I have a clicking in my F/drive tire/brake. I just had the ball joints and lower contol arm replaced. The mechanic has said it is anti-rattle clips. After 3 trips back to the mechanic the clicking stops for about 10 miles then is back.

I noticed that the rotor is extremly hot (Under normal driving conditions).

Along with the ball joint replacement, I had the rear passenger caliper replaced (leaking , not working properly).

And the final straw. Driving to work this morning (12 miles top speed 45mph) My ABS, Traction Control and Brake light are all on. After stoping shut the car off and restarting the Brake light is off, but the ABS and Traction Control are still on. This is frustrating considering I just dumped a ton into this for the ball joint and caliper.

Any help or suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks.


BTW: My car according to Ford/Lincoln was not under the recall. And that sucks.

I'm guessing, but I'd suspect the noise is from the rotor being warped and the pad is shifting in the caliper cradle (particularly if the noise is relative to wheel rotation).

Far as the lights... hrm. Now you've got me half-wondering if the sound had to do with the ABS sensor and/or ring...

Replaced the rotors cleaned everything. Still getting the clicking. Anyone have any tech articles on replacing the sensors?

hhmmmm... no tech articles but i just changed my spindles(lower ball joints,) and i can tell you to replace the lower ball joint you have to r/r the front hubs which contain the abs tone ring and sensor assembly... they can easily be damaged while servicing the spindle (mine were rusted/corroded into the spindle) and would cause the symptoms you describe if damaged, as far as clicking, is this when applying the brakes or turning...lol
