I have an 03 LS with the voice button on the steering wheel but everytime I press it the NAV window says voice recognition not included. I was wondering how to activate it. I searched "voice" and "voice recognition" but could not find a solution. I also did this: Pressed and held the AUDIO and MENU buttons for 5 seconds, then typed 917 which brought me to an on screen diagnostics screen. I did the manual check and did the microphane test. It tested good. Don't know if that is relevant, but thought I would add it. Anyways any help in getting the voice recognition activated would be great.

The 2004 Owner's Manual says that the Voice Activation will not work "if the map DVD is not in the navigation DVD unit." It also indicates that the Voice Activation is an option that may not be available ("If Installed"), but it doesn't give any indication of how to add it...

The DVD is in. I figure I'll probably have to have the dealer install new software or something but I was hoping this was something I could do on my own. Thank you Sooner.

the voice s/w is all on the dvd. Maybe it's the version of the dvd you have. very weird and not normal.

does your disc have the lincoln logo on it? all versions of lincoln should have voice recognition. thinking maybe someone popped another disc in somehow?? just a longshot....

Does the 03 have voice recognition on all nav units? I wasn't sure they all had it. If it does, I'm almost positive the microphone will be in the rear view mirror.

I have 03 with nav. mic is in rear view mirror. I can't imagine they had 2 nav options...1 with voice and 1 without but who knows????

I do know that I have a microphone because i tested it and I'll try to get the software version I am running. I also know that the dvd has the Lincoln logo on it. As soon as some of the snow melts here I'll go get the version off of it.

Ok, my info screen on the head unit said I am running software version 03.00 and database version 00.01.08. If that helps anyone answer my question, please let me know. Thanks
