OUr Mark VIII wouldn't start and kept blowing a fuse in the inside panel when we tried to start it. We don't have a owner's manual, so we didn't know what the fuse went to. Come to find out, it's for the cigarette lighter. We disconnected all the lighters and the fuse isn't blowing but of course that didn't fix the starting problem. Today we tried to start it and the igniiotn just spun, so we replaced the ignition. Still nothing. It will turn over if you spray starting fluid, but will not stay running. PLEASE HELP!~!!!

Did you happen to see your previous thread? I replied with some fuse panel diagrams.

First things first - have you gone through all of the fuses to make sure that they're all ok?

Have you checked for fuel at the schrader valve atop the fuel rail?

I agree with Driller...check for fuel at the schrader valve first. To do this (if you know where it is.....) press on the valve and see if any fuel comes out. If you do not know where the schrader valve, is it is on the drivers side fuel rail farthest forward most point, closest to the front end of the car on the fuel rail. Obviously, if you do not have any fuel, your fuel pump has gone bad......time to replace.
If you have fuel at the fuel rail, then you MAY have either a cam/crank sensor problem. The only way (except for diagnostics) to tell is to simply replace them. I replaced both at the same time.....just easier that way, and they are not that expensive. Here are the part numbers for the cam/crank sensor:
Cam Sensor - 1W7Z-6B288-AB
Crank Sensor - 1W7Z-6C315-AB
Call Max @ 5 Star Ford 1-800-866-1520 x236 for the best prices.....he is the ONLY place I buy Ford products from. Both together, they were only like $40 from Max.
If you need any help, you can inbox me, or wykdmk8@hotmail.com .
To replace either the cam/crank sensor is easy. The cam sensor is behind the power steering reservior, and the crank sensor is behind the A/C compressor.
To remove the crank sensor, you have to loosen, but DO NOT REMOVE the bolts that hold the A/C compressor in place. Remove the belt, and then remove the sensor. When replacing, take some of the oil off of the old one, and lube up the o-ring on the new one....or it will take you forever to get it back in.
To replace the cam sensor, you have to remove the power steering reservior, then remove the sensor......
Hope that helps.
