Here are some Brembo brakes up for sale. My father believes the slotted/drilled rotors will drastically increase brake wear, and have more tendancy to crack or warp. I understand there is probably a brake-in procedure. I know many of LVC members have slotted/drilled rotors so I would like to know your feedback on your experiences. I believe Brembo should be one of the best to buy from, no? Thanks fellas,

Drilled rotors have, historically, had a tendency to develop stress fracutres (cracks) around the holes, even when radiused. I'm not aware of any documented catastrophic failures under normal street conditions, but it's a possibility. Slotted rotors have long been preferred, because they give the gases that build up during hard braking an escape route, as well as increasing surface area (which helps with the cooling of the rotor), without the potential drawbacks of drilling.

IIRC, Quik is running drilled and slotted rotors on his LS, and he hasn't had any problems with cracking. (Well, not in regards to his rotors; some think he might've cracked in undertaking the supercharger project. :D )

There will probably be some additional brake wear, but I wouldn't expect it to be dramatically worse under standard braking conditions.

The only thing I can say about drilled rotors is that if your running a nice rim on your car (chrome speedster maybe), the brake dust gets into the fins of the rotor and rusts when you wash the car. This sucks because the rusty brake dust comes out of the fins of the rotor after a nice wash and gets the clean rim dirty again. With a slotted rotor this doesn't happen. Just my opinion.
