Rear Inner Fender Lip

What's up guys? Anyone ever mess around with the inner fender lip in the rear of the LS? I just got 255's on 18's and I'm having a little trouble with rubbing on that one little flare in the wheel well. If so, what did you use to fix it?

In the Buick world we use a wood baseball bat...You put it in between the tire and wheelwell and have someone drive the car forward and back until the lip gets rolled.

you can usually find someone locally that has the equipment and can either rent it or do it for you..

as an example -> http://www.robsaudiworld.com/fender.htm

be warned - that since the rear door intergrates with the fender - it may be pretty tricky....

Even once you get past the lip there is another little step out you might have to tend to inside the fender. This is were the 20's rubbed (once).

I'm thinking about tapping it with a rubber mallet. It doesn't rub with just me in the car.

trust me you want something that wil roll the lip not beat it in...You will NEVER get it straight if you start hitting it, it will never look right.

It's not the actual fender, it's more of a little lip type thing inside the wheel well. I'll take it to a shop and see what they say.

You could probably use a hammer on that since it has no paint on it. If any of the undercoating comes off the inside of the fender you will need to do something on that area to prevent rust.

Dude I'm telling ya...It's way to easy to roll it you have no reason to start beating on your car...I beat on my and have regreted it ever since (not on the Lincoln).

Its not the actual lip that the tires rub on. If you look up in the fender you will see where it rubs.

Right, it's some type of little wing-ish thing in the fender. Why it is there, nobody will ever know.... Well Lou or Ken might, but it looks like a rubber mallet will do the trick.

Ok guys. I'm thinking of buying this fender lip roller and using it on my car. If there is interest here on LvC to "rent" it out then I might go for it. Let me know if you are interested in renting it for a short period of time.

I would be interested. I ride with full loads somedays and I don't want to have the embarrasing tire rub with my 18x8's. Thanks

To purchase it its 300 bucks. You'd need a heat gun too so the paint doesn't get messed up when your rolling.

Well, I found one for $249 and the heat gun around $40 so total cost with shipping would be around $320 or so. I need to roll the fender lips on my car so it is needed for sure. I may end up buying it this weekend so that I can have something to do next weekend. :runaway:
