I've recently noticed, that while driving that the speedo is registering a faster speed than I'm actually going. when I shut the car off the speedo says 15 mph, what could be the problem ?????? Thanks in advance,
Cubby
PS, could it be a speed sensor ????

They always did say that the MarkVIII looked fast even when sitting still. I believe that the speedo sensor is in the transmission. May be a bad sensor. I do not have my manuals at work. Hope that someone else chimes in to help.

I have yet to hear of a sensor going bad. What it prolly is, is the gauge face has come unglued and has come in contact with the needle shaft. Go here (http://www.markviii.org/~1wykdmk8/genone.html) and that will give you directions on how to remove the cluster and the needles/gauge face.

Thanks Ray, I knew you'd come through.....have a Happy ( sober ) New Years eve....but then again, how can we be happy if we're not drinking. Hey, don't drink & drive cuz you might hit a bump & spill your drink.......
