Now that it's cold outside and the heat is in use inside my '03 LS V8, I notice an annoying cold draft coming up into the cabin from between the drivers seat and the transmission tunnel. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it worth having the service department look into it?

if you have your heated seat(s) on that would be from the heating device. the heated/cooled seats use a peltier device to function. what this means is when you have the heated seats on heat hits your butt and cold comes out the side. when you have cooled seats on cold air hits your butt and hot air comes out the side. it's the nature of a peltier device. hope this helps.

I've never felt a cold draft like the one you mentioned on my 03, and I've been running the heated seats for a couple months now. You may want to check the ducting under the front seats (those that heat the rear footwells), to see if there is something impeding flow or what temp the air is flowing from those ducts. You can see them if you move the seat all the way forward. If the problem persists, I'd take it to the dealer.

I'll check under the seat and...I should have considered the Peltier as a possible culprit. Tomorrow morning I'll check to see if the draft persists with the heated seats off. It does, however, feel a lot like outside air coming in. Oddly, I feel it moreso when I go around corners.

I've noticed that sometimes if I have my heater on, I feel a cold draft coming from the bottom part of my steering wheel where the horn/airbag cover meets the steering column

$10 says it's the peltier....tick your hand between the seat and tranny humb while the seat heater is on and you'll feel the "draft"...you'll notice it goes away once the seat's off.

Speaking of heated/cooled seats, has anyone ever found out if filters for the seat ventilation system are available? The PN is 3W4Z-19E880-A, and last I heard, they were on international worldwide backorder. When I took my 03 in for its 30K service, replacement of these filters was on the menu, but could not be done because of the backorder situation. Has anything changed??
