I bought my LS brand new(05 V8). In the city I was getting 12-13 mpg. It was a lot of stop and go but I still thought that was pretty low. Sometimes when I accellerated it felt like someone who didn't know how to drive a stick was driving. I made a thread about it and thought that maybe the engine needed to be broken in. A few other people said that they were getting the same thing and I thought that this is just what I should expect.
The other day I noticed water in the trunk and had my wife bring in the car to service because she works next door to the dealership. I told her to tell them that somestimes the car is jerky when you accellerate. She brought it in and told the service guy there was water in the trunk and the car JERKS OFF.
To make a long story short the sevice guy called me and told me that they tested and had to reprogram the PCM because it was wrong. Now the car drives a lot better and I'm getting 17mpg when I was getting 12mpg. I saw a lot of threads about people complaining about there gas mileage and would recommend bringing it in to the dealership.
Now I'm just pissed that I got a new car that was messed up! 6 months later I find out that something was wrong with it. Thats a lot of gas money I wasted!
