assuming your car is all stock, ket a K&N air filter, new plugs, wires, underdrive pulleys help mileage, and the lincoln motorsport computers seem to help gas mileage.

How fast are you going? 55mph is optimal, but most cruise at 75, which hurts mileage. make sure your tires are properly inflated, this can hurt mileage also. New plugs have made the difference in most cars I have seen. My friends Cougar went from 13mpg to 21 mpg in the city after we changed his plugs, and that was on a 3.8 V6 motor!

Install new oxygen sensors if the ones in your car are the ones that came with the car from the factory.

I had gotten 24mpg highway last night @75mph, from Phoenix to Palm Springs. In the city I avg. 16mpg.
The only upgrade is a LMS MAF and cone Filter.

Screw gas Mileage... Keep it pegged every where you go so when you decide to cruise it will be a definitive improvement!

I get 25 mpg @ 80 mph. But I keep my car in tip top shape with only the best parts and fluids. ;)

Stay out of the gas. I get 13.9 city, and I have never traveled far enough to raise my Highway MPG above 18.4.

I get 18 in town and 25-26 on the highway. I think you may need a tune up or 02 sensors maybe both.

I guess I am on the slightly higher side of averages? Around town and back roads I get in the 18.x range and the highways I pull 21.x to 22.x but I have not taken it on any long trips yet. Besides I just put on the new IAC and had the the ECU reset today so I will see if things get better

Perhaps that 1/2" extra drop helps on the highway. My '97 LSC has taller and wider tires than stock, I'm sure that doesn't help with MPG.

If you live in a state that uses oxegenated fuel during the winter months, it's common for the gas mileage to go down something like, 2-3MPG or so.

But yeah, what everyone else said - fuel filter, O2 sensors, plugs, wires, air filter, proper air in the tires, etc..
