Completing the design overhaul of it's entire brand, Cadillac has introduced the 2006 DTS formerly known as the Cadillac DeVille.

Unlike most other models in the current Cadillac lineup, the DTS is a front-wheel drive sedan. The DTS retains GM’s FWD architecture, offering its passengers a luxurious and comfortable ride. The rest of the Cadillac passenger car lineup are performance-oriented rear-wheel drive vehicles, including the Cadillac CTS, Cadillac STS (which replaced the Cadillac Seville, XLR and Cadillac SRX.
While the Cadillac DTS is the replacement for the now retired DeVille, the styling is not a dramatic departure from the look of the old DeVille. There is a mixed resemblance to both the new design direction of Cadillac’s recently introduced models and the traditionally conservative body lines of the DeVille. It’s the styling of the front end where you can see the sharp, chiseled edges of the Cadillac design direction of today, especially in the headlight assembly and grille.
The Northstar engine is built in two configurations for the Cadillac DTS. The standard configuration version of the V-8 produces 275 horsepower and the performance version develops 291 horsepower. The standard configuration engine has more responsive peak horsepower while the other V-8 has greater peak torque. The 32-valve, 275-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 produced 292 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4,400 rpm. The 291-horsepower version delivers just 286 lbs.-ft. of torque. Both engines are use a four speed automatic transmission.
The 2006 Cadillac DTS will find its way into the hearts of fans of the Cadillac DeVille.
