My cig lighter went out and have no clue what happened. but even with it working the cell phone charger takes up soo much space and is annoying to deal with. has anyone hardwired their cell phone charger to the car if so how did u do it. or is it even possible. kinda like doing a radar detector. this way the wires outta site and outta mind. thanks.

Hardwiring your charger is the best way to go. Its pretty easy. On your car charger plug, the two metal bars on the side are the grounds and the tip of the charger is the power. Best thing to do is solder a wire to one of the grounds and a wire to the tip. Tape it up really well and find a power and ground in your car and connect them and your done. :D

i've done this. just buy a cable from radio shack for $5. it gives you the female cigarette recepticle on one end and a red and black wire on the other end.

I would think that a cellphone charger has a voltage regulator in it. Wouldn't this be necessary to have in an auto application as well?

yes it does. that's why you wire an existing charger (with the voltage regulation)

depends where you want it. you can go underneath the console cig lighter, to the poiwer leads on the radio harness.

I'm not sure why a new stereo would cause the controls for the cruise control to stop working. ;) Joey's car is a Mark VIII, not an LS--those aren't radio controls you see on his steering wheel.
