Sifrino3 July 28th, 2004, 10:10 PM Upper radiator hose and it makes this baring sound. Okay, I have a heating problem. Maybe the t-stat isn't opening to let the hot water out. Why else would it make this sound. I have pinched the upper hose before. Bcoz I was thinking of replacing it with the lower and it never made that sound. Let me know what you think. . .
OldSchool1 July 29th, 2004, 04:43 AM I think you spend too much time looking under the hood Man!
1) Put down the Mountain Dew
2) Replace your upper and lower hoses with Goodyear High Milers
3) Replace your thermostat with a nice high temperature stat
4) Install 2.5 gallons of environmentally safe anti-freeze (don't forget the overflow bottle)
5) Repeat #1.
p.s. The girgling is PROBABLY coming from the overflow bottle
NYC LS8 July 29th, 2004, 09:29 AM What the hell is "baring"? You mean what OldSchool said, "gurgling"? If so, it's an air pocket, or a few air pockets, in the system. Run the car with the cap off, let it heat up a bit, keep squeezing the upper hose until there's no more air left in the system. That's probably why you've got overheating problems, too.
JoshMcMadMac July 29th, 2004, 10:41 AM It's probably something simple. I would get the air out of the system like Tommy suggested, and if that does not work, follow Mr. Dancy's instructions. I'm willing to bet one or both will fix your problem.
Sifrino3 July 29th, 2004, 11:25 AM It sounds like a baring noise. But I think she will be sitting for some time. The only reason im going to move her. Is to jack the rims. I dunno, we will see what happens. Thanks for the comments.
JoshMcMadMac July 30th, 2004, 07:06 AM It sounds like a baring noise.
You still haven't told us what that means.
91LSC SE July 30th, 2004, 07:46 AM It sounds like a baring noise.
Do you mean bearing noise?....like the waterpump?
Sifrino3 July 30th, 2004, 10:45 AM I dunno, all I know is that I pinch it and water rushes through and makes a baring noise. Which I have never heard before. . .
CaptainZilog July 30th, 2004, 12:29 PM Sif, dude, you gotta be more specific. Nobody knows what the hell a 'baring' noise is.
JoshMcMadMac July 30th, 2004, 01:37 PM I dunno, all I know is that I pinch it and water rushes through and makes a baring noise. Which I have never heard before. . .
I don't think anyone has ever heard a "baring" noise before, that's why no one can give you any more help. Answer 91LSC SE...do you mean "bearing" noise? Try using another descriptor that might be a little more familiar to your typical person.
91LSC SE July 30th, 2004, 02:10 PM I mean a "bearing" as in part of a machine that allows another part a "shaft"
to turn. Meaning the sound you would hear if the bearing was bad in the
waterpump. This should be evident by movement in the waterpump shaft
if you grab the fan(engine "OFF" please) and can see or feel movement side
to side. But watch that it is not the fan clutch that is moving.
I hope that explains my meaning of the term "bearing"
Sifrino3 July 30th, 2004, 02:48 PM Like when you move metal bolls in your hand or roller skates. You know the barings in some of the old rollerskates when the wheels roll.
91LSC SE July 30th, 2004, 02:52 PM :iagree:
CaptainZilog July 30th, 2004, 07:12 PM That's just the turbulance from the water pump man.
JoshMcMadMac July 30th, 2004, 08:37 PM You know the barings...
Bearings. It's spelt bearing.
Sifrino3 July 30th, 2004, 11:43 PM Bearings. It's spelt bearing.
