Is there a device i can buy to check my codes, real cheep?

if not, does anyone arround me know if there is a rediclously cheep place to get it done, or perhaps even free?

i speculate my CEL is 02's but i just wanna check for sure before i go spendin $

Any parts store will have a code scanner you can buy. The one you will need runs about 25-30 bucks.

KEEP IN MIND!!! This will only check the engine side of the system. To be able to test everything else, you are gonna need the Ford Rotunda Star II tester. Speaking of which.....*wanders off to look for one for sale*

Ford rotunda star II, im assuming i wont be able to get that at pepboys?

i called my ford dealer and they said itd be like $2500 or $3500 for one of them, so i said..eh.

You can find them on EBay everyonce in a while.



I just found out a buddy of mine has one for sale......I am really considering buying it, just to have. I could take it to LVC meets and diagnose trouble lights in the cars.

lol, that would be a cool idea.

I talked to pepboys and they said they had a thing that would make my CEL flash x times for diffrent things, and a book would tell me what each flash sequence would mean. $29.99, is that effective? At the very least, could it check my 02 sensors, and coolant and oil lvl and air bag sensors.
