90lincoln November 10th, 2005, 02:13 PM I read somewhere recently that there are 2 selonoids that have filters in them and that they should be cleaned. I've already cleaned the EVR filter, the EGR, and the idle control valve. Are they the 2 selonoids mounted on the passenger side right next to the voltage regulator and coil? Or are they the 2 right behind the air intake plenum? If there is a dirty filter I'd sure like to clean them.
JoshMcMadMac November 11th, 2005, 12:39 AM Solenoids for what?
Awesund November 11th, 2005, 10:22 PM Yeah, the 2 solonoids I know of that actually have "filters" are the TAB and TAD solonoids on passenger fender, nearly facing the alternator... Yes, near the voltage regulator.
You have to take the round, plastic cover off and you'll see the filter. They usually aren't that dirty, but you can certainly check and clean them.
90lincoln November 11th, 2005, 11:37 PM Thanks Awesund I'll check it out. I noticed the top of those solenoids has some sort of cap on them. I don't know what good it will do, but I dig this ride and I'm always fiddling with it.I believe some people should read the threads more carefully.

I did read carefully, which sparked my question. You asked about filters and solenoids, then pointed out where they might be, but never referenced what the purpose of the solenoid or filter was that you wanted to find. I could certainly have wasted both of our time and started listing off everywhere on the car that has a solenoid or a filter, or I could seek clarification to better help you. If you would rather speak down to me than have me answer your question as directly as possible I will be sure to refrain from providing you with any asistance henceforth.
90lincoln November 16th, 2005, 12:58 AM I cleaned those two filters that were inside the TAD & TAB selonoids. I didn't notice any difference in the ride quality, sound, fuel consumption, or even the looks, but apperantly it raised a couple of eyebrows.
There are 2 selonoids that have filters in them.
If you read closer I said in them, meaning the two solenoids. DUH
Dereck November 17th, 2005, 02:32 PM Hi 90Lincoln
Picking a verbal duel with "The grammar police" is an exercise in futility, you should quit while you are still behind.

I don't mean this as an insult, but don't you think that is kind of a smarta$$ attitude to display toward someone who is going out of his way just to try to help you?

:I :I :I
90lincoln... your jumping out of the frying pan, into the fire, so to speak.

I agree, if you think you know it all then why are you posting here asking for help?
90lincoln November 17th, 2005, 07:07 PM looks like I'm in hot water now, so before I go any further I want to humble myself and apologize to all your sensitive ears. I never meant to sound as though I knew everything. I never stated that. Not even between the lines. I now what I now. I don't need to brag about it.
To JoshMcMadMac:
I hope you except my apology. I just happen to hate disrespectfulness, and I know it all attitudes. Can you honestly tell me where every solenoid on a 90 MK Vll is and which ones have filters in them. If so I'm impressed if not please don't reply to my threads when I ask someone for help. Thanks

It is easy for things to be misconstrued over text. It happens, no worries.
...I just happen to hate disrespectfulness, and I know it all attitudes...
You and me both. As stated before, I grew up under a retired Navy Senior Chief. Respect is everything.
...Can you honestly tell me where every solenoid on a 90 MK Vll is and which ones have filters in them...
Yes I can: there are no solenoids on this car with filters in them. But on top of that I can tell you where every filter in this car is, as well as every solenoid. I know the vast majority of them off the top of my head. If there is one that does not come to me immediately I have the proper documentation to find the rest. ;)
I hope you except my apology.
Listen man, I'm not one to hold a grudge. You could have never responded to this thread again, started another thread asking a question, and I still would have tried to help. That's just how I am. I honestly don't appreciate how things went down here, but what's done is done. No worries.
Joeychgo November 17th, 2005, 08:42 PM OK guys - lets all calm down. Remember - we're all suppose to be friends here. I know tempers get a little out of hand sometimes. Lets just all calm down and move on from the insults.
Thanks everyone.

Little late on that one, buddy. We've already got it sorted out, man.
