Engine Ping

I have a 92 LSC with 66K miles. When I first bought her I used premium gas but because of the cost, I am forced to now use regular. There is a maked difference in performance and the engine PINGS and knocks when I hard accelerate. I am concerned this is doing damage to my engine. Is there something I can do to fix the pinging? How will any timing adjustment affect performance?

Is it a black on black '92 LSC SE? I've heard lots of horror stories about those cars. I think you just need to get rid of it. Not worth much. I'll take it off your hands cheap, $1K-2K. Sorry, couldn't resist!

First thing is to start putting premium in or even an octane booster that should correct it. If you let it run too long like that it will damage the engine.
