Tire Dilemma

I need new tires...bad.

I'm looking for good handling, a quiet ride, and above average winter traction. I've looked around the internet for hours and it looks like the Pilot Sport A/S have everything I need, but there 850 (shipped...tirerack.com) for 4. I'd like to not have to pay that much.

What do you folks suggest?

Thanks!!!

Tell me about it!

I did..no shopes around here carry a 235/50-17. Sam's Club could get some but for 950.

I could go alot cheaper, but I'm not putting the LS on "Kumahomatoma's" or something like that.

You can always go to a 245/45/17. The selection there is much higher. I've even known people to run 245/50/17. I ran 255/45/17 until they wore out. Your speedometer might be off a mile or so, but your choices are much larger.

Most tire shops will meet/beat Tirerack. Discount Tire, Les Schwab, those types of shops.

$850 for four (4) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires? I'll buy a spare set for that price. I went there and typed in 245/40-18 and they were $241 each. Do you have some kind of discount coupon or something?

Yeah, I see that. Damn, $120 difference in sizes. However, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is a great tire.

I got a set of Bridgestone Turanza LS-H tires. I love them. A vast improvement over the OEM Continentals. The Bridgestones are very quiet, give a great ride, and have great traction in the wet. I have not tried snow yet, but I expect they will do fine. These tires come in three speed ratings (H, V, and Z), so you can choose whichever type fits your driving style. I think I paid $595 installed for four 16-inch LS-H tires.

The Pilots came stock on my LS and I love them. I swear by Goodyear but these tires have swayed me. Good all around tire.

I have the stock continental as tires on my 01 sport with the 17" chrome rims... I am wanting to stickw ith my rims but get a lower profile *not by much but less bulky*.. My brother works at a tire shop and can get me any tire i want at cost so not worried about price... how much smaller is the profile of the Pilot Sport A/S ?

I can't remember how the readings go to determine it =x

I really liked the Firehawks I had on my car. Bought a second set, now I'm getting summer tires of my 18's and swapping rims in the winter.
