Soulworkout October 28th, 2005, 03:44 PM High all I ‘m in the process of getting a supercharged installed on my Lincoln LS by Canepa Design here in Santa Cruz, CA. It should take about 2 weeks to do. The unit they are using will be custom made. They are also going to fabricate an exhaust system from headers all the way back to the end of the car. (No need for Flow Masters yet). The computer software will be rewritten to accommodate the changes. From what I understand, everything will be reworked to insure the best performance. I will send everyone pic once the car is done.
2006kmls October 28th, 2005, 03:54 PM See www.canepa.com......looks like an interesting site. Pretty upscale. I'm anxious to see the LS when it is done.

2006kmls October 28th, 2005, 04:41 PM I'm gonna supercharge my LS to.
I am going with (4) of the eRam electric superchargers. All inline, on a 3" CAI tube and cold air box. I'm looking for a 90 hp increase, before any tuning.
rocket5979 October 28th, 2005, 11:17 PM <------will be cramming PD XB-1A centrifugal supercharger (from flipped Explorer 5.0 project) pushing 6lbs and brackets fabbed by yours truly...Yes,...some things will most likely have to be relocated.

What are they charging for this and what is the estimated gain?

I missed this part of that post originally, but it has to be one of the dumber things I have seen in a post. This guy probably knows squat about F/I.

J3FF April 25th, 2006, 05:25 PM I'll admit that I have no idea how to hook a supercharger up, but I know my way around an engine. Im not good at projected horsy gains and such but I know how stuff works and I guess that's pretty good ;)0
You can supercharge or Turbo anything...you just gotta find someone good enough to do it. I guy here in my town made a twin turbo engine out of his 1994 Corolla...I was amazed, it looked so complecated (My IQ is going down!!!) under the hood. He had to get a new hood for it though, so it looks kinda stupid, but good god it's fast.

While custom supercharger and turbo application/fabrication is not for the faint of heart, a normal person can do it if they really pay attention to detail. I have done two fully custom, one-off, supercharger R&D projects now and I am not a mechanic or have any type of degree on the field. I learned by researching, planning, replanning, doing, and redoing things. As long as you have a visual mind then you can accomplish more than you probably ever thought; once you get past the mindset of "there must be something I am missing here". I dove in and didn't look back. That seems like pretty much the only way to jump into the performance business unless you are born into it.
beaups April 25th, 2006, 07:47 PM It seems odd he'd do a twin on a corolla. aren't twins reserved for V engines? (2 exhaust manifolds)
J3FF April 25th, 2006, 08:46 PM He had them side by side. I dont know but it sure did look funny. I'll talk to him about it tomorrow.

You are right, most of the time. Some people break their manifolds up so that the first two cyls take one turbo and the back two take the other turbo. They can be sized smaller that way and spool quicker as a whole system than a bigger single turbo system. Still seems like a big PITA to do with a Corolla. Oh well, people say the same thing about my Explorer too. ;)
You VERY very very rarely see a turbo system like the one I described above because that would be two itty bitty teeny tiny turbos on there! :D

They are pretty small for a turbo, not sure what they are, but they take up alot of room in the engine bay. He had to do alot of cutting, because you know that wasnt a direct bolt on!!
