I picked up a 04 LS last week and I am very happy with this machine. I had a 00 Contour SVT previously and this car is just as fun to drive. I have noticed that an E is showing in the gear indicator. I have droped it off at the shop as per the owners manuel. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue? If so could you please share your experiences.
Thanks for your time and understanding.

I've heard of others getting that E indication, but haven't gotten it myself. It is indicating some error being "reported" by the transmission. IIRC, the problem could range from low fluid to needing a re-flash of the PCM.
Good luck and congrats on your purchase!

When my LS was in the shop I was given a V6 loaner from a local rental place. I gave that car hell, power braking and off-roading in it (I kid you now) and at one point there was an "E" in the shift indicator. Do you give your car hell? Just wondering.

At about 2500 miles I had the same problem with my 2003 LS. The dealership had to pull the transmition and rebuild. No problems since.
