MrWilson October 24th, 2005, 06:10 PM My factory alarm activates without fail every single time i lock the doors automaticly, or whenever i activate the arm alarm. it doesnt go on instantaniously, but after about 2-5 min later. I have just been locking both doors manually.
Anyone know what this is, anyone know how to fix it?
Its happened ever since i first got the car.
buddylee October 24th, 2005, 06:21 PM join the club, I just quit locking it that way.
JC1994 October 24th, 2005, 06:25 PM mine goes off when I open the hood then lock the doors, scares the SHEET out of me every time LOL!!
BlackMark8Li October 24th, 2005, 06:31 PM are you getting a door ajar message?
GMAN October 24th, 2005, 06:42 PM The factory alarm is a passive alarm. Meaning it wont arm unless you arm it. Pressing the door lock button before you leave the vehicle does the same thing. It activates the alarm. If you've added an aftermarket alarm system, you should not lock the doors manually. This will cause the horn to honk continously. This will scare the living daylights out of you if you are not ready for it.
Brozly October 24th, 2005, 07:29 PM Sounds like you maybe your hood button isn't adjusted properly??, I would think that would show up in the message center though...
JC1994 October 24th, 2005, 07:48 PM I don't know....
MrWilson October 24th, 2005, 07:56 PM see, i have an aftermarket alarm from code alarm...installed by previous owner. I used to have the door ajar msg, but i fixed that with the wd40, no problems with that since.
i dont have the problem when i lock it manually, actually thats the only way i lock it without it going off.
im glad its not just me thats got this problem.
How would i adjust my hood button?
Brozly October 24th, 2005, 08:19 PM If you've got an aftermarket, that's more likely the problem... as far as the hood, I really don't know, as long as it's high enough to contact the hood when it's closed....
I've only had this thig since August..., I poped the hood the other day, locked the doors and run in to the bathroom, came out to a blatting hood...
I was just guessing...
MrWilson October 24th, 2005, 09:45 PM so, ya think if i disconnected my aftermarket, that my prob would stop?

I dont think so .... are the both hooked up to you horn?

na, the factory is the horn, and the aftermarket is hooked up to a loudspeeker.
btw, i wanna remove it anyhow. (aftermarket 1)
JMiles_T October 25th, 2005, 07:50 AM The same problem started happening with my factory alarm just a few weeks ago.
I just opened the glovebox, and unpluged the factory alarm module.
ljay99 October 25th, 2005, 09:22 AM pop the hood, look for a botton that contacts the hood, on th passanger front side of the engine compartment on the fender wall area. If that switch is bad, it will do that, just unplug it . my car did the same thing. then I unpluged it, and the problem went away.
was unpluged when I got the car and did not have the problem, then I saw it was unplugged, and plugged it in, then the same problem that you have started.
let me know if that solves it.

What does the alarm module look like?
leonard111 October 25th, 2005, 12:09 PM I have had to lock the door manually for about a year otherwise about a minute later my alarm goes off as well. I have a 1994 Mark V111 and the green light indicationing the alarm is armed does not come on unless I use the remote which will cause the alarm to go off. My question is when you lock manually does you alarm light indicate that the alarm is ormed?
