MrWilson
October 20th, 2005, 08:07 PM
Would i be able to drop .6 on my et atleast just by switching from stock 3.08 to 4.30 posi?

assuming car is stock/stock otherwise.

if not, what do you think could be achieved?

You won't go any faster than 98mph or so without getting the ECM tuned and a better driveshaft

k, well i dont know much about my car, and i want to learn what is best for me before i go out and spend my money. Mostly, im just trying to figgure out IF something would work, and if it does, in which case i want to find out in which order i should do things. Please dont chastise me for wanting to learn more. Who knows, with my inquisitive and inventive nature, i may figgure out some crazy invention that will make your car better in one way or another, than you could have immagined. But, i will try to hold back on my posting, because it is a little excessive, i know. Recently though i have been posting a whole bunch, cuz im finally getting enough money together where i can drop it on some good mods, and im just making sure im doing everything in the correct order...for me.

No problems there......But, it would help out a bit if you could use the search function a little more. It is really one of the better search functions out there. We arent here to yell at anyone else, or chastise someone for posting questions, but a little common courtesy would go along way.

stock lincoln running lets say 14.8s and then you add gears and nothing else you would run about 14.3-14.4 because you would need a chip to get rid of the speed limiter and and new drive shaft, because at the end of the 1/4 your car will be shaking more then pakistan during the earth quake

I just put in 4.30's and my stock driveshaft doesn't vibrate until 85-90mph and it's not too bad. I can definately live with it.

What vibration? I don't have any vibration. I just want a 1 piece instead of a 2 piece.

he was sayin when you step up ur gears, that with the stock ds, either one...you get rediculous vibration from the ds. Just what i was told.

isnt there a way you can get it rebalanced so there is no vibrating?

94m5

Alot of it is more than the balancing.

When you step up the gears, your spinning the driveshaft faster. The faster you spin it, the more centrifugal force your putting on it. After so much, the center of the shaft starts to "walk" off of it's center line, which causes the vibration we all feel.

The ONLY thing that I have gotten to stop it was a call to Dennys driveshafts, and a 2 week wait. Both of my cars have them, and I would'nt trade them for the world.

What he said.

Incidentally, has ANYONE with a Dennys have to return theirs for reballancing?

I am still trying to track down an elusive shake after new Dennys Shaft, FMS 3.73 gears + posi, Carrier Brace, Polyurethane bushings and raxles half shafts.

One of my guys will be dropping my Mark off at the mechanic's while I'm gone. Any ideas you all could come up with for the mechanic to investigate and help track down this annoying problem would be greatly appreciated. If your idea fixes it, I will donate a One Year LvC membership.
Thanks a bunch. We now return you to your regularly scheduled annoyance.
