MarkVIII93 September 12th, 2005, 07:38 PM I have a few questions about my exhaust before i get it done this weekend. First of all. How would i be able to put 2.5" exhaust when i chop the cats while the stock exhaust is 2.25"? And I plan on using one magnaflow
Daul Inlet/Daul outlet 2.5". Ive seen it done before so im guessing itll go on without a hitch. Just give me some things to tell the exhaust guy to do and not to do. Man i cant wait to get it! :L
1wykdmk8 September 12th, 2005, 08:05 PM Basically what they will do is add a piece of pipe between the stock piping and the new 2.5" by stretching/expanding some 2.25" to 2.5" and weld it all together.
Here are some pix of what mine looked like:
Bates93Mark8 September 13th, 2005, 03:06 AM why do you want one dynomax? Have you seen the video of the LMS system you may not qain anything by going that route... just my 2 cents but Id go with the XX2's any day over anything

Don't let him give you the "I can't remove the resonator/ 3rd cat" speech. It's not monitored, not regulated by law, and weighs a ton. Get rid of it. A lot of these guys won't touch it because they think they'll get into trouble or they say it won't help performance. If they give you that speech, don't even bother. Go somewhere else and give them your money.
Let me know how that 2/2 Magnaflow setup goes. I've been experimenting with exhausts for the Mark and your Magnaflow 2/2 plans was one of my original ideas, but I went another route. I'm very curious on how that would turn out. Right now, I'm doing a little engineering with my old Borlas to get a little more of a rumble out of them...
PioneerCrazed September 13th, 2005, 12:39 PM Are you getting the one with the internal X, or just a regular dual in/dual out? Here are some pic's of a guy's mark with the Magnaflow 12468 2.5 D/D
Note: Make sure your exhaust guy get the muffler tucked up in the driveshaft tunnel like this, or else you'll be dragging everywhere...

98LSC32V September 13th, 2005, 10:17 PM PioneerCrazed, is that your 2nd gen in the video? Sounds clean...
PioneerCrazed September 13th, 2005, 10:21 PM Unfortunately no it is not, it's a guys that frequents www.modulardepot.com forum. I agree though, it sounds very healthy. lol
MarkVIII93 September 14th, 2005, 02:25 PM Ok Thanks a lot man! Im still kinda afraid of what my exhaust guy will tell me he can do it for. Because a few people have said to me that it looks like a lot of work sooooo. Hopefully he wont want over 300 bucks for the job. And BTW I know the guy so he'll do whatever i tell him to do.
PioneerCrazed September 14th, 2005, 02:51 PM 300 should definitley be doable if your just talking about the pipe work and not the price of the muffler. Especially if you know the guy, that helps. Good luck...
MarkVIII93 September 16th, 2005, 01:55 PM Ok well my exhaust guy said that he cant do it in 2.5" because his bender only goes up to 2.25" so i might have to go with 2.25" I found another 2.25" muffler but im not sure if it has the internal "X". He also said that he can do it for 300 and then he said "ahh well i guess i could do it for 220" which is good news. BTW heres a link to the muffler! Tell me what you think!

JoeyLincolnMK8 September 16th, 2005, 02:03 PM dude you are nuts for paying that much. call up jegs i bet they have those for cheaper... shop around bro... good luck!
MarkVIII93 September 16th, 2005, 02:30 PM Nuts for the muffler or the job? Im getting the muffler for like 82 bucks.
JoeyLincolnMK8 September 16th, 2005, 02:39 PM mufflers, not the job. i just looked up the price at jegs for you... 69.99! but it is weird though i typed the part # but it says it is a 2.5" not a 2.25", but i would call them up anyway.
JoeyLincolnMK8 September 16th, 2005, 02:43 PM here is the link anyway, even though it says it is 2.5". but i think somehow they f'ed up.

MarkVIII93 September 16th, 2005, 08:14 PM Well ive decided to go with 2.25" instead of the 2.5" and then ill have the guy stretch the 2.25" to fit the muffler that measures 2.5". If any of you are familar with the mercury marauder tips, I will have those welded on also. Hopefully I can get it done sometime this week and have some clips for you guys.
MarkVIII93 September 17th, 2005, 07:23 PM Good news! My new muffler will be coming in toward the end of this week, beginning of next. :L
