how could i diagonose the problem of why my tilt will not go up & down. i have heard of two problem leading to this but is there a way of finding out.......

could it be a fuse possibly i dont have that option on my conti but just taking a gues man

This sounds strange but bang hard on the top of the steering wheel while holding the button. Works on my 97. mine goes in and out just fine but the up and down will only work if hit the wheel.

i would not bang mine but bujj it a bit and it will work but not anymore.......would work sometime if i moved it forward and then move it up and down but not any more.......

it might be just your button.

Somewhere in the archives is a thread about this. Mine ('98) is also probamatic in the up/down. I know (think) it has to do with a range sensor inside the column.
