Lincoln Vs. CadillacSifrino3 July 1st, 2004, 03:16 PM Who's better and why!? :smilies-3 :invasion: JoshMcMadMac July 1st, 2004, 03:33 PM Them's fightin' words! Sifrino3 July 1st, 2004, 03:36 PM You know it! XLR is out, hes running far away! I would have guessed he would have had a great influence on the cadis side! But he bailed like all the rest of cadi owners! JoshMcMadMac July 1st, 2004, 03:38 PM Who's got the bigger trunk? The number of dead bodies you can tote away from the scene of this thread is going to be a major determining factor. codewize July 1st, 2004, 04:36 PM Dude have you ever seent the trunk in a 78 Coupe Deville Who's got the bigger trunk? The number of dead bodies you can tote away from the scene of this thread is going to be a major determining factor. codewize July 1st, 2004, 04:54 PM Now lets talk about the reasons we buy cars. Dependability, integrity, warranty, style, resale value, forefront of technology, power, speed. Have I mentioned anything that Cadillac's haven't won on? OK I'll keep going. Let's mention things like benchmark for the world. When you talk about the quality of something, you don't say "Hey man I just bought the Lincoln of computers." You say The Cadillac of computers or whatever. Why do you suppose that is? This could go on and on forever so I'll stop and let another Caddi owner take over. Who's better and why!? :smilies-3 :invasion: mespock July 1st, 2004, 05:49 PM :smilies-3 :invasion: Looks the the trash talk :gr_devil: in the "Best Looking Cadillac" Contest is spilling blood all over. :fight: What I do like is the Sleeping Giant has awaken. The Caddy drivers are coming to life. It has seemed that the biggest difference between the two drivers are that the Lincoln Drivers post more often and are more active :P in the general forums. Also It seems that Lincoln drivers are more active in taking their rides to the track. :steering Look at the time slips. :dj: Now what about songs - Hit song for Lincolns - Hot Rod Lincoln - Hit song for Cadillacs - The Beep Beep Song - A song about a Nash Rambler smoking a Cadillac in second gear. Now the issue of value. I would rather pay less for more than more. Cadillacs may hold their value. :iconcur: But it's the price of the Lincoln that allows me to buy 2 Marks in one month and not worry about taking out a second mortage. Now when I drive down the street I look like I paid a lot but the warm feeling is I saved a ton! :givemebee OldSchool1 July 1st, 2004, 08:13 PM :smilies-3 :invasion: Looks the the trash talk :gr_devil: in the "Best Looking Cadillac" Contest is spilling blood all over. :fight: Just tell them the truth; Lincoln owners have a bigger pipe :eek2: mdnitedrftr July 1st, 2004, 08:46 PM Lincoln > Cadillac codewize July 1st, 2004, 09:23 PM You guys crack me up. Just for the record that's a great looking Mark you have mdnitedrftr. Tough, style, black, nice stance. Lincoln > Cadillac Sifrino3 July 1st, 2004, 09:56 PM Just tell them the truth; Lincoln owners have a bigger pipe :eek2: Tru Dat! Mine is around 18 inches! Pepsi2185 July 2nd, 2004, 01:04 AM :iagree: LOLOL you guys are goofy. By the way its sweet to see lots of caddy owners in here. JoshMcMadMac July 2nd, 2004, 09:03 AM Dude have you ever seent the trunk in a 78 Coupe Deville Yea, just yesterday. There is one for sale in my area, and I stopped to see the asking price. You ever see the trunk of a Mark IV? They are certainly close. :D codewize July 2nd, 2004, 09:49 AM Ok how about a early 70's fleetwood ? So what was the price on the Coupe. What kind of shape is it in. I'd love to own one again. Yea, just yesterday. There is one for sale in my area, and I stopped to see the asking price. You ever see the trunk of a Mark IV? They are certainly close. :D JoshMcMadMac July 2nd, 2004, 11:24 AM Ok how about a early 70's fleetwood ? So what was the price on the Coupe. What kind of shape is it in. I'd love to own one again. It was $2000. Looked really nice, and the interior looks almost brand new! But upon closer inspection the boddy has severe cancer in several places. It's a shame to see that kinda rust, because I know it could have been saved a long time ago. codewize July 2nd, 2004, 11:34 PM Songs? Please see :gr_devil: http://www.caddydaddy.com/songs.htm <SNIP> :dj: Now what about songs - Hit song for Lincolns - Hot Rod Lincoln - Hit song for Cadillacs - The Beep Beep Song - A song about a Nash Rambler smoking a Cadillac in second gear. </SNIP> :givemebee Lincolnman July 8th, 2004, 12:20 AM [B]It took cadillac three years to catch up with Lincolns Navigator and LS. They made a bold step with their new models cts, rvw, tgk, or whatever...but how are they going to answer the new Lincoln Zepher, Aviator, Mark LT, and I hope Continental with the kissing doors? Like I've said before, caddies are sexy, but so are prostitutes. Lincolnman July 8th, 2004, 12:22 AM Anybody got a heads up comparison on the 2004 Navigator vs escalade? Sifrino3 July 8th, 2004, 09:09 AM 2004 Lincoln Navigator 5.4L 300 HP Power ~ 300@5000rpm Torque ~ 355@2750rpm Weight ~ 5995 1/4 Time ~ 17.1 1/4 MPH ~ 83 Cadillac Escalade 5.3L 285 HP Power ~ 285@5200rpm Torque ~325@4000rpm Weight ~ 5571 1/4 Time ~ 17.6 1/4 MPH ~ 78 codewize July 8th, 2004, 09:22 AM Dude. where did you get these numbers from? How about Escalade 6.0L H.O. Vortec 6000 V8 (AWD) 345 hp @ 5,200 rpm / 380 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm Navigator 5.4L 32 valve DOHC V-8 300 hp and 355 lb ft of torque I have every GM press kit released since 95. If you need correct information let me know. You can also go to http://www.cadillac.com/comparator/cadillac/comparevehicle.jsp But they don't have all bvehicals available 2004 Lincoln Navigator 5.4L 300 HP Power ~ 300@5000rpm Torque ~ 355@2750rpm Weight ~ 5995 1/4 Time ~ 17.1 1/4 MPH ~ 83 Cadillac Escalade 5.3L 285 HP Power ~ 285@5200rpm Torque ~325@4000rpm Weight ~ 5571 1/4 Time ~ 17.6 1/4 MPH ~ 78 JoshMcMadMac July 8th, 2004, 09:56 AM Codewise, he was using the 5.3L on the 2WD Escalade. You are quoting the 6.0L AWD. Both are correct, it just depends on which one you want to compare. Lincolnman July 8th, 2004, 12:09 PM :bsflag: Does anyone have a heads up comparison of the Navigator vs escalade featuring ride handling, creature comforts, customer satisfaction etc.? Sifrino3 July 8th, 2004, 02:28 PM I compared bottom line to bottom line. . . Don't speak unless you know what you are talking about. . . UNVMYCTS July 8th, 2004, 02:39 PM Why would you compare the low end side of two High End named vehicles. Seems clear to me that the caddy does slightly edge out the lincoln on that one. Both are very nice rides indeed. I'll take one of each please. Sifrino3 July 8th, 2004, 03:09 PM He didn't say he wanted the top end of the deal. Base line gives a very good comparision. Alothough if you do plan to get the upgraded model. Cadi does up the Hp marks. . . Conti94 July 8th, 2004, 03:53 PM You guy's have quite a nice little debate going on in here. LIncolns have alway's had better technology than Cadillac, and they have not have had as many bad ideas. Few examples: That all aluminum engine in the early 80's Cadillac Eldorado that just loved to catch fire when it overheated. I think it was a 6.0 liter V8 with the digital electronic fuel injection at the time. Changing all their cars to FWD, The Eldorado had FWD, does'nt stand a chance against a Mark VIII. Lincoln has the upper hand in affordability, and quality, Maintaining a Cadillac is supposedly way more expensive than Maintaining any Lincoln. :V :dj: UNVMYCTS July 8th, 2004, 04:15 PM How about this comparison! 1990 Lincoln Continental Consumer Complaints = 369 Manufacture Recalls = 7 1990 Cadillac Eldorado Consumer Complaints = 73 Manufacture Recalls = 4 Courtest of www.myCarStats.com Caddy Wins Again!!!! :invasion: :N Conti94 July 8th, 2004, 05:27 PM I don't understand you're comparison. From a respectable standpoint, the Eldorado in no way is direct competition or should be compared to the Continental, granted the 90 Conti's had problems, but if you must compare, compare it to the DeVille since the DeVille was the Continental's compoetition in 1990, they both were front drive luxury sedans, I don't recall there being a sedan Eldorado, unless you mean the Seville, which at the time could not be compared with the Conti because the Seville was aimed at the Europe market with it's awesome STS package. An STS would kill a Conti. Not fair comparison. Bottom line 90 DeVille vs. Continental, would be correct. Continentals are still cheaper to maintain. I own a 94. Also the 90 Mark VII vs. Eldorado is the right comparison. 5.0 V8 vs. 4.5/4.9 V8 Also I love Cadillacs, I just like Lincolns better. Lets keep this as a friendly debate. :Beer UNVMYCTS July 8th, 2004, 05:36 PM Friendly Indeed! It is just a debate. Well, If I am correct it was posted that Lincoln produced a higher quality car. So lets compare the quality of the deville to that of the conti. You yourself agree that this is a legitimate comparison. Quality Comparison of 90 Deville vs. 90 Conti 1990 Lincoln Continental Consumer Complaints = 369 Manufacture Recalls = 7 1990 Cadillac Deville Consumer Complaints = 271 Manufacture Recalls = 1 Caddy Wins Again :invasion: I LOVE IT!!!! :woowoo2: www.myCarStats.com P.S. How can you say that a Lincoln is cheaper to maintain. Remeber less quality usually leads to increased expense! But I really focusing on the quality issue at hand! Conti94 July 8th, 2004, 08:21 PM The Cadillac may have less recalls, but that just adds to expenses, think about it, all those things not covered under recall, adding expenses on that maintnance bill. You forgot Mark VII vs. Eldorado Anyways The Town car has always fared better then it's rival the Fleetwood, especially in the 80's, in 1985 Lincoln sold 120,000 Towncar's, compared to Cadillacs middling 53,130 units. That's one for the Lincolns. I quote, from Consumer guide history book, "through the 80's, Lincolns boxy Towncar was alway's Lincolns best seller, outselling rival Cadillac Fleetwood for 7 straight years". Also I challenge the reliability of early 80's Cadillacs to the Early 80's Lincolns. Fox Body Conti to the Seville, Or the Mark VI to the Eldorado. :invasion: GO LINCOLN!!! :steering UNVMYCTS July 8th, 2004, 09:08 PM C'mon if thats not grasping at straws what is. The nineties I will give you but know were going all thw way back to the eighties. Carpe Diem man. Sifrino3 July 8th, 2004, 09:59 PM :why: Lincolnman July 8th, 2004, 10:17 PM :bash: This is the kind of bantor I was expecting from this sight!!! :invasion: Lincolnman July 8th, 2004, 10:20 PM :questionm Is it true that Henry Ford designed and built the first cadillac :feedback: Sifrino3 July 8th, 2004, 10:21 PM Atleast you can match it togeather better! Come on, at least im fair. If you Cadi guys are not running away you find your self posting crap that doesn't matter. Let me do the side by side posting. Atleast you can trust me to tell the truth even if the Cadi wins one time! Im the side by side poster! Who da hell are you! DaveSmed July 8th, 2004, 11:42 PM :questionm Is it true that Henry Ford designed and built the first cadillac :feedback: Nope, that would be Henry Leland, founder of Cadillac AND Lincoln.... Lincolnman July 8th, 2004, 11:59 PM You sure about that DaveSmed? I saw a documentery on Henry Ford and I could have sworn they said he developed the cadillac but was beat out, bought out, voted out or something to cause him to eventually start FOMOCO. Later he developed Lincoln codewize July 9th, 2004, 12:54 AM I agree. If we're going to compare at all lets compare the best that each company has to offer. Why do anythign else? Why would you compare the low end side of two High End named vehicles. Seems clear to me that the caddy does slightly edge out the lincoln on that one. Both are very nice rides indeed. I'll take one of each please. JoshMcMadMac July 9th, 2004, 08:09 AM You sure about that DaveSmed? I saw a documentery on Henry Ford and I could have sworn they said he developed the cadillac but was beat out, bought out, voted out or something to cause him to eventually start FOMOCO. Later he developed Lincoln Dave is correct from what I have read. You are right about Ford being "voted out" but not exactly like that. There was a lot of head butting going on, and it finally came that Ford went out on his own after many different things happened. Conti94 July 9th, 2004, 10:01 AM Codewize, as in the best each company has to offer do you mean from both the past and present? If so here's a few cars that stats should be looked up on. plain and simple which one's better, The Past: Lincoln Mark VII vs. Eldorado Mark VIII vs Eldorado The Present: LS V8 vs Seville STS and CTS 04 Town Car vs. 04 Deville just for starters, if we are talking any years, who wants to fire the first shot? :smilies-3 Asakha July 9th, 2004, 12:21 PM That all aluminum engine in the early 80's Cadillac Eldorado that just loved to catch fire when it overheated. I think it was a 6.0 liter V8 with the digital electronic fuel injection at the time. :V :dj: The 6.0L was all iron, but it was the v4-6-8 which plaggued that engine (it would disable 2 or 4 cylinders depinding of the load, but either the coil just burn and the engine stayed on 8, or it stalled when going into 6 and the owner just disabled the system). I actually have that engine in my car, and it still run great, though the ISC needs to be replace, and it doesn't exist anymore anywhere... The next generation of Cadillac engine was in aluminium, and the heads just always blowing off... Next they went with the NorthStar and its "normal" oil cossumption... Yes I own a cadillac, but I'm fully aware that the company has trouble with its engines, even if they say they are normal... It's far from what they did in the past... I wouldn't mind a 500cid under my hood ! Conti94 July 9th, 2004, 02:26 PM Thank you for clearing that up I knew one of those engines caught fire, just coulod'nt remember which one. So I guessed. I would not mind a 5oocid engine either :iagree: Those are nice. :steering: codewize July 9th, 2004, 04:50 PM Hmmm. I wasn't speaking of any particular year but I guess now that I think about it I would start by comparing the current models since now is when we're having the debate. I don't really like anything from the 80's. I truly believe that all the car designers of the 80's are now designing clothing. Codewize, as in the best each company has to offer do you mean from both the past and present? If so here's a few cars that stats should be looked up on. plain and simple which one's better, The Past: Lincoln Mark VII vs. Eldorado Mark VIII vs Eldorado The Present: LS V8 vs Seville STS and CTS 04 Town Car vs. 04 Deville just for starters, if we are talking any years, who wants to fire the first shot? :smilies-3 JoshMcMadMac July 10th, 2004, 09:16 AM I truly believe that all the car designers of the 80's are now designing clothing. LOL, I think that's backwards. It seems all the clothes designers jumped on the car designing wagon. Eddie Bauer, Bill Blass, etc. :D Sifrino3 July 10th, 2004, 02:15 PM Puff Daddy, Sean John! Lincoln! ! ! ! ! I want one! ! ! ! codewize July 11th, 2004, 01:15 PM Understood. I was really referring to the poor and tasteless design. Think about it. Have you tried to buy sneakers lately. They all look like crap. Plain lineless style less design like the cars of the 80's :) Even though I'm all about old school, if we're going to compare technology, we should compare the best that each has to offer. Comparing baseline models is not an accurate way to judge a company. That's like saying I wouldn't buy a Bose surround sound system because the baseline Audiovox has an extra feature. LOL, I think that's backwards. It seems all the clothes designers jumped on the car designing wagon. Eddie Bauer, Bill Blass, etc. :D Gothicaleigh July 11th, 2004, 02:31 PM Codewize, as in the best each company has to offer do you mean from both the past and present? Lincoln threads. Lincolnman July 12th, 2004, 12:25 AM I'll bet with all that horse power the new cadi's snowplow front ends could go right through a huge snow bank :Beer | |||||
