Should I Get A LS?

Kamikaze

Ok I'm planning on buying a 2002 LS and I want to know is this car cool for a 18 year old? What I mean is, is it sporty enough to take me to work in a classy manner and then go out and be a beast on the road at night? Does this car have muscle and ultimately is it fast? I want something classy but takes off pretty quick. Can anyone help me because I want to get this car as soon as possible but I don't want to commit to the dealership just yet. Thx in advance.

No car should have windows falling out though that's unacceptable especially if it happens with a female in the car. :D

Its okay to role down your windows. Bad people are not on every block. . . Like I said, every car will have problems. There is so much "things" in these newer car. They should have simple proplems. Like, windows falling out! Haha

What are you talking about? Is that Coke finally hittin' your skull man? I don't know if you were trying to be funny or not but it came out illiterate and a window falling out is a huge issue when buying a car.

Calm down, its okay. Sometimes if you see a nice looking car and everything checks out. You should take the chance and buy it! Everytime you buy a car. You are taking a chance of buying a "lemon." Its clear that you have read some info on this car. Which is very good when buying a car!

I will say one thing, I have had a LOT of cars, and HOT cars too and this one has been back to dealership an awful lot. Don't get me wrong it hasn't been for anything major yet... but maybe it is because I traded in my Lexus GS 400 for this, but this is a 2003 and I got it maybe 3 months ago, and I have brought it in for; back window wouldn't work, transmition was bucking, back part of roof where the 3rd brake light is kept falling down (brought it in twice for that) center arm rest had to be replaced, my horn sounded like it was dying and there might have been some other stuff.... and when I take it to get my first oil change I already have a list... Getting awful gas milage (haven't gotten better than 12 mpg and I have read from Lincoln I should be getting at least 17 in city) Still getting that awful squeak from my steering wheel (last time they said they couldn't hear it) especialy when it is cold in the car, the passenger side air vent fell off and I put it back but it isn't flush. I also think there is something wrong w/the air in the seats but I don't want to bust to many chops..... but the car is starting to grow on me... also if you have the money I would try to get an 03 because there was 500 improvements to the 00-02 models. Also an other good thing when you do have your car fixed like clock work I get a call asking how my service was.
I know that sounds like an awful mess or I am a big complainer but it could be worse and if I didn't just come out of a Lexus that was the $h!t I would bet I would love this car, you can't beat the gadgets I feel like James Bond, auto wipers, air & heat seats, talking and talk back nav., heated wipers, THX sound, rear heated seats, cool e-break, rear back up assist, God knows how many air-bags... and the list goes on... I am a little upset that I can't chrome the grill because 03-04 has1 piece insted of the 2 for the after-market, but all in all I am starting to like it.... Wish it was a little more BLING BLING but know what if you are a player you can make it happen in a VW, right????

Thanks man exactly!! This car is for the baller/player man on the real. I just don't want to be driving down the street looking all cool with a female in the ride then my back window falls out and stuff you know!! Haha I would be soo embarrased man I'd rather be in a bucket than have that happen. That stuff is a lot though but I might still get an all Black '03. I was going to get one of those fast rice rockets but I was like...nope I'm a baller not a racer I gotta rep it right. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks again for your help.there was an early recall to rear the rear window regulators - which had a habit of breaking if rolled up all the way and held there. Once they broke the rear windows wouldn't roll up. The dealers replaced them under warranty with ones of a new design and - to my knowledge - no one has ever complained about the new ones breaking.

My LS is both classy and sportly. I race mine twice a month in AutoCross and the car does very well - extrememly good balance. And the car is classy enough to be seen at all the clubs and events my wife and I attend.

They are sweet cars, with a lot of luxury and a bit of performance to boot. I don't know if it's exactly what a non-family man would want if you're more into performance, but they are beautiful cars for what they are.

The rear windows never "fell out". The problem was a faulty regulator. When it goes the rear window cannot be rolled back up.

Chances are that any used LS you are likely to buy already had this problem resolved under warranty.

Good Luck!

The beauty of the LS. Cruise the canyons at scary speeds all day, eating up the tires, go home, take a bath (you and the car) and attend a black tie affair. All the while, the LS fitting each role perfectly.

My window regulators were replaced ~3 years ago. No problems since..

Everything is under warranty for these newer vehicals. Why waste your time saying, what if! If the car fits you. Get over it. What if my back window falls out whie im sticking dis chick in the back. Get over it! Damn. . . If it happen it would lighten up the moment! Thats all, girls are not looking for perfect rides and if thats the girls you looking for. You should cruise the hoe section.

JoshMcMadMac
June 28th, 2004, 12:34 PM
Yea, about the girls, I agree with Sifrino. Besides, any girl that's going to be all about your ride and not you won't be interested in an LS; she'll be taking it in the back seat of an import. A real girl will love your LS for what it is, and love you even more.

remember - the LS was designed to compete with the BMW 5 series of the time - I it did very well.

Some people have problems, others have had none.

I have had mine for a year and the only problem has been the window regulator. Had the rear windows down one day and one of them would not go back up. Dealer replaced both under warranty.

Other than that it has been great.

It is plenty comfortable cruising at 100, too.

Thanks for all the info you guys I appreciate it alot but as to the window situation I only know what I read off review sites. Well I guess taht the whole window falling straight out was false. On the whole girl situation I'm not talking about a female dumping me or anything it could be anyone in the car. I could care less what a female thinks if something breaks but I'd rather not have that happen. Here's the link to all the reviews that I was talking about:

Yeah man your car looks real good man I'd love to go out at night in that. I look like my avatar just to let you know so that car + me = takeover homey. The game would have the ride to match. Although I'd attract alot of gold diggers I know how to handle them so it's no problem.

Okay, if you're just buying an '03, your "baller" status needs to be revoked immediately.

Well, your car is 3, almost 4 years old... a "baller" (at the very least) would most likely get a new one every year, or at least every other year. It's okay, though... I still love you for who you are, not for what you drive. :) lol

I like 57 chevy's. Of course, it would have to be a hotrod, not a daily driver. The ride would be like riding in a 1800s carriage with wooden wheels

umm that information about 1/4 mile is wrong... my 02 did 15.4 @93 mph stock with a 2.4 60' which is pretty bad, so im guessing with good traction they could pull off a 15.0 :shifty: im guessing a 02 V6 does 1/4 mile at around 15.7 @90 mph...
