Hub conversion?MarkVIII93 August 16th, 2005, 12:38 PM What would i need to convert my Bolt pattern to the mustang 5x4.50 Bolt Pattern? Ive heard of people doing this but im curious if I need cobra hubs or can i just use regular mustang hubs? Grifter August 16th, 2005, 02:33 PM 94+ mustang front hubs with ABS 99+ Cobra Rear hubs should replace your rear bearings while your in there too might as well do the PBR caliper swap up front while your at it, either GT or Cobra flavors... I did it, it wasnt too hard heres a good low down on it.. http://www.tccoa.com/articles/suspension/index.html# (click mn-12 to sn95 bolt circle change) evillally August 16th, 2005, 08:21 PM From a T-Bird thread (FPN prices): Two of each- Front Hub 1R3Z-1104-AA > $58.19 ea Front Hub Retainer F3LY-3B477-A > $8.80 ea Caliper Banjo bolts (Cobra-R) > $5.69 ea Dust Cover F3DZ-1N135-A > $3.98 ea Two of each- Rear Hub YR3Z-1109-AA > $73.52 ea Rear Hub Retainer FOSZ-4B477-A > $6.20 ea Rear Wheel Bearing E9DZ-1215-A > $42.13 ea Bearing Retainer N803955S > $1.67 ea MarkVIII93 August 16th, 2005, 09:01 PM Are the rear wheel bearings absolutely necessary? BTW could i use front hubs from an 89 mark VII LSC? Grifter August 16th, 2005, 09:51 PM well, how many miles are on your car? its a good investment, then you dont have to do it later when they do go out.. its a good peice of mind.. arent the mark vii's 4bolt wheels? MarkVIII93 August 16th, 2005, 10:41 PM Nope they are the same Bolt Pattern as all mustangs 94+ My car has 75k but im trying to do this on as small as a budget as possible. I added up the costs for all parts and it rounded out to about 270 something. Some people have said that its such a pain and its not worth it but..... MarkVIII93 August 16th, 2005, 10:46 PM Post a few pictures of your car! :wrench Grifter August 17th, 2005, 01:25 PM me? i can when i get it out of the garage... :D which hopefully is soon.. just need to bleed the ABS unit and i SHOULD be good.. MarkVIII93 August 17th, 2005, 07:17 PM I was also wondering what size the stang rotors are compared to the Mark rotors because im not in the mood for a caliper swap. evillally August 17th, 2005, 07:43 PM Cobra fronts: 13 inches Cobra rears: 11.65 inches Grifter August 17th, 2005, 08:32 PM the GT rotors are 10" MarkVIII93 August 17th, 2005, 09:02 PM the GT rotors are 10" Thank you! Is there any special tool i might need for the teardown or installation? Grifter August 17th, 2005, 09:09 PM you will need a 36mm socket for the hub nuts, and a torque wrench that goes to 250ft/lb atleast. save your old nuts off the back of the car, and double nut the rear nuts. they seem to have a tendency to loosen up and back off.. if you do cobra rears, you will have to get (or make) the caliper relocation brackets.. other wise you can get a set of stock ones redrilled for the new pattern... MarkVIII93 August 17th, 2005, 10:58 PM http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/CallJsp?target=wheelSearchCloseUp&wheelIndex=20&sizeIndex=1&showRear=no&setIndex=4&filterSize=&filterFinish=&filterSpecial= (Zinik Z1) I plan on putting these wheels on for the moment until i get my other wheels. Im wondering if they will poke out. And is the offset going to be the same after i do this? Grifter August 18th, 2005, 09:40 AM linkie no workie zinik z1? JoeyLincolnMK8 August 18th, 2005, 09:46 AM man all that just to slap on cobra wheels and brake kits. damn now i know what is in store for me when i get around doing this! eeeeekkkk! MarkVIII93 August 18th, 2005, 06:40 PM Im getting pearl white(same color as my car) 99 cobra wheels. I dont want cobra R's cause ive seen them everywhere. The reason Im doing this is so i can easily get wheels for cheap than what i can get wheels for the stock bolt pattern. BTW i know some people at the dealer so would i be able to get the hubs from the dealer? Grifter August 18th, 2005, 08:46 PM yes. the rear hubs have to come from the dealer, so far they are the only ones that have them. the fronts you can find at your local parts store. they are much cheaper there too.. MarkVIII93 August 18th, 2005, 09:06 PM Local parts store huh? Thats cool! :monkey: Grifter August 18th, 2005, 09:59 PM 49.88 at checker for the fronts... i just have 99 GT wheels on my car for now, i like the way they look except for the horse on the centercap.. but my car is grey and so are the wheels, so it looks pretty good IMO i really like the 99 cobras, i would like a set of 00R's though.. anthracite bullits would look great too.. MarkVIII93 August 20th, 2005, 01:36 PM DUDE! you have to post some pics! Grifter September 3rd, 2005, 07:45 PM finally took some pics today.. its started raining after i rolled the car outside, and so its wet.. thats ok, it was REALLY dusty before.. Frogman September 3rd, 2005, 11:17 PM I'm ~$3800 into this conversion so far, and I haven't even started working on it yet. The $3800 Includes the 13" cobra brake kit from Discbrakesareus, New 18" Wheels, New 245/45/18 Tires, New Cobra front and rear hubs, all new bearings, new nuts, etc. etc. etc. Most of the brake related stuff isn't even in this picture. I'm still waiting on the brakes, (I wanted the calipers powdercoated black, with no writing on them), the wheels, and Front Hubs. Mad Max is sending those out Tuesday. http://www.phoenixprotective.com/fr/P1010496 (Large).JPG Oh, the beauty of not having to answer to a "War Department". :p evillally September 4th, 2005, 07:56 AM You got a chassis/ differential brace!. Excellent choice, and I know you will be impressed by the cars handling after that! I paid $180 for mine from a friend and it made an awesome difference, especially with those full-throttle 70mph turns... :gr_devil: JoeyLincolnMK8 September 4th, 2005, 12:25 PM evil, do you know where can you pick up that chassis/differential brace? evillally September 4th, 2005, 12:37 PM My friend Donnie made mine, copied it from his Cougar. I just coated it with high-temp paint. He got his from MN12 performance.com, but Kenny Brown, ebay, and a few others sell them too. They usually go for over $250... Frogman September 4th, 2005, 01:00 PM I'm thinking of making my own. I like the one from MN12, but the welds look a bit... sloppy. I know a welder who can probably teach GOD a few things about welding... JoeyLincolnMK8 September 4th, 2005, 06:35 PM My friend Donnie made mine, copied it from his Cougar. I just coated it with high-temp paint. He got his from MN12 performance.com, but Kenny Brown, ebay, and a few others sell them too. They usually go for over $250... cool... thanks bro! markd4speed May 30th, 2009, 09:19 PM I was wondering why you cannot use the mustang rear brake rotor? like you will be using the front rotor of a mustang | |||||
