I sensor lowered my car in May. Since I bought the car I would get intermitten check air ride messages. Everything was fine until about a month ago when I came out one day and the rear of the car was jacked up pretty high in the back, and the front was at normal ride height. When I turned on the car, I immediately got a "check air ride" message". I checked and adjusted the rear height sensor, it had no effect.

So I ordered a new compressor for the car, installed it - it doesn't even turn on, and I still immediately get the check air ride message when I turn on the car.

So Buford kindly sent me a new relay, which as far as he knows worked fine in his car, I installed it this morning, and the situation remains the same.

I have even tried unplugging the battery to reset the computer - no effect.

At this point, I am at my wit's end. I do not know what to replace next, or what steps to take. Anyone have any ideas? Is Ray out there with a solution?

Have you tested for power at the compressor harness yet? I wonder if your air ride computer is shot.

no i haven't - i assume it's the red wire on the harness that plugs into the compressor?

Would I have to have the air ride on and the car running to test this? I think I might be able to get at that wire from the top if I remove the air box (i have already removed my silencer) but from under the car, jacked, I don't know how possible that would be....


buford seems to feel that my air ride computer is finished, and I think he is right, since I get the message as soon as I turn on my car.

Someone whon has had similar issues should be able to interject here. But my guess is that the Air Ride Monitor is probably bad. deflanman?? Does this seem to be the same issue that you had that was cured by the new monitor??

I see the Air Ride Monitors on Ebay pretty frequently.


Sorry I can't be to much of assistance, I've had a vehicle with Air Ride and was such a pain then, that when my mark's air ride started having issues I replaced them with coils.

the message coming on as soon as you key on is a short in the system.check all the selinoid wires going up into the wheel wells.also check the compressor wires.the relay can also do this,bufords might possibly be bad.the relay on ther other side of the compressor ive been told will work as a test piece.also run straight power to the compressor to make sure it does work.last id check is the computer because these are very low failure.

the rear being so high up id check all the rear wires first as it appears the selinoids were not commanded to open and drop the rear.dont forget the height sensor wires :wrench

the compressor definitely works because it's brand new. regarding the rear solenoids - you don't think the fact that they inflated to the max overnight might indicate a computer error?

where exactly do all of these wires run through the car? does anyone have a schematic?

I just checked my service CD and it says that if the message comes on immediately like yours then the air ride computer is sensing something electrical is wrong and will not try to correct the air ride system height. I just burned you a copy and it will be in the mail today.

The air ride module (plus a new compressor) was shot on my car when I bought it. New module ($60), air compressor and spyder valve and it's been good to go.

You da man. I knew that someone here would be able to help out with this issue. The relay that I sent him was off a working system. I tested it. I guess that it is possible that it was damaged in transit, but doubtful. Isolating an electrical issue can be real challenging. I hope that you get it fixed so that you can enjoy the ride.

in terms of testing for voltage - will the air ride system need to be on while I do this? if so, can anyone reccomend a safe way to test while it's on?

UPDATE:

Took some voltages today, with the air ride system ON.

Rear solenoid harnesses - both of them were around 9.23
Relay - it has power, it was 12.75
Front right solenoid harness - couldn't get a power reading.

Interpretations???

EUREKA!

After remaking a bunch of connections, using some dielectric grease, and taking my measurements................................I drove to subway to get dinner, and when i left the restaurant i was like "hmm, the front end seems high" - "hmm, there is no check air ride message" - i got out, looked, rear is SLAMMED! nice! so it's fixed, hallelujah!
