Well on my way home and my car seemed alittle funny in to 3rd and 4th gear and all of a sudden, I started reving like I was in N, Im like my old lincoln did this it got to be my MLSP senor so I take the car out of OD and still revved up. so Im like this is it huh, I pulled over and checked the fluid bright red no metal. At this point I felt terrible, for my car, I didnt care about how to get to work or my friends just my poor car that has never ever let me down, but I guess it was its time to go, the transmission has never been rebuilt so 114000 was its time. I still dont know what im going to do. Im going call some junk yards tomarrow and see if they can help, Since I dont have the cash I guess Im going buy my friend POS car to drive. if any one know a good place to buy a performance trans on the cheap let me know,or if any one know where I can get a maunal transmission for my car and all the parts need that would be great and if anyone has done (I know who has) want to help and make some cash, also if you wants my lincoln I will take 6000 for it and I will put in a new transmisson. The car came in thrid place at a recent car show and the body has some lite dings here and there

PS....Joey your missing the smilie with a gun in his mouth so I guess this is gonna have to work :frown:

I wonder if your torque converter let loose. I had one let loose in a beater wagon once and it did the same thing. Good luck on it.

Hey Brad, sorry to hear about your woes. Why not take your tranny to a local along with the J Mod write up and get it done with all the good parts. You will adleast know what you have, and your ride will be as good as ever. You won't have to worry about a POS.

...Happens to all you guys that drive the car like it has a stickshift.

Do you mean driving hard or manually shifting while driving hard. :steering

Do you mean driving hard or manually shifting while driving hard. :steeringManually shifting period. The 4r70w does not like the 1-2 upshift and especially doesn't like the 4-2 downshift. The one-way clutch is not up to the task. Plastic p.o.s. That is why the mechanical diode is the superior replacement. I'm willing to bet 50% of the tranmissions die due to the OWC failing. I know, I lost 2 of them. Manually shifting, of course.http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com//images/icons/icon10.gif

I suck at manually shifting. :waving: And try to avoid 4-2 downshifts.

Probably a good thing. :steering

You better drag your as.k to the meet tomorrow, anytime you make it will be fine. You know where we'll be in Lombard for the cruise night. I'm sure you have Joey's cell number.
