Recently my A/C has stopped working.

At first.. A/C Blower was working but only going through upper defroster.

Now(2 Days).. A/C Blower motor has stopped working altogether.


Any idea's as to what this may be? I live in Florida so I need to get this corrected ASAP. Currently working on trying to find a diagram of the A/C vacuum system, and other information which may help to accomplish this task.

Sounds like something went from bad to worse?

Try running the EATC self diagnostic program
http://www.aircondition.com/dsmobileac/eatc.html to see if it's throwing any known error codes.

Meanwhile, the AC diverting from the dash vents to the defroster is a VACUUM LEAK. It happened to my 98 LSC with 30K a few weeks ago on a 114 degree afternoon in Phoenix, AZ. When it happened, the EATC threw an error code of 155 = low pressure.

Since it was so hot outside, I just took it to the LM wheeler-and-dealership.

If you wanna try and look for leaks yourself, what year is your Mark?

PS: When conducting the EATC self test, there are 2 ways to end it. If you press the COOLER ( = blue) button at the end, any error messages from the past 80 car starts ( = key in the ON position) can remain in and be displayed by the EATC's memory.

But if you end the self test by pressing DEFROST, the EATC resets itself and clears ALL error codes from the past 80 starts, hopefully resulting in the error-free 888 code.

Don't know if it helps at all.. But it is a 93' Mark VIII

The self test is a built in function. It's how I confirmed my blend door motor was bad on my 96.

Can someone please point out (Blender Door & Blender Actuator) in the following parts list?

Well, finally figured out the issues involved and took action.


AC running once again, with a very simple fix.


I am posting this here so that someone else may be able to use the information should the problem arise.



Problem: If your AC stops going through the vents and heads only to the defroster... First: Check the vacuum line to the check valve.

Resolution : The vacuum line has been discontinued, but all you need is (1) 3' piece 1/8 OD (hard) vacuum line, and (2) 1/8 X 7/32 Soft Vacuum Straight Connectors. The line runs from the upper left side of engine compartment towards exhaust manifold and sometimes gets pinched under the engine cover so be careful when replacing.

If your blower stops blowing the I would use a circuit tester on the blower motor itself. If the blower is good then it is probably your controller. Also, which has been discontinued and replaced by a different part number.
