Well i think i need a new alt. in the VIII, but not for sure if its the alt or the battery (i am hoping for battery)
anyways i was idling through the alley of my apartment complex saturday and i noticed the car kinda "surging" without me touching the pedal. and i noticed the A/C blower was surging too. like blowing normal, then blowing slow.. so on
SO i just park it thinking it was getting tired or somethin because it was 107 degrees outside yesterday
well sunday i went to leave. car fired right up and i kicked on the A/C on and i forgot something so i left for a minute to go back up to the apartment. and when i came back the idle was surging again. same with the A/C surging. this time i noticed the battery light flickering on the cluster. but it isnt on constantly, random flickers. if i rev the engine up there is no change, just flickers.
SO i did the easy battery test: disconnect the negative cable from the battery and the car ran for about 3-4 seconds longer then died. now i am thinking new alternator time. but i would think that an alternator would just GO OUT instantly.
but on the way to work this morning the car ran fine. no battery light or anything. of course i didnt run the A/C at all because it was only 81 degrees on my way in. BUT on the way home it was back up to 108 degrees outside so i kick on the A/C and after a few moments the battery light comes on again. flickering to the beat of the A/C blowing full blast, then low, then full then low. even on the freeway at a constant 2k RPM it would stay on for a few seconds then go off. its annoying the hell out of me. i will probably go to autozone or something to get the charging system test. I AM PRAYING for a new battery, and not for a new ALTERNATOR. :q:q:q:q i cannot afford $200 right now, lol.
