alternativeguy17 August 8th, 2005, 07:28 PM Before i went into installing my angel eyes tonight, i thought i'd give them a trial run; i hooked one angel eye up to my 12v car battery and didn't get them to light up, i tried just about every imaginable way and still no go.....i used some speaker wire when i touched the ends, maybe i'm just missing something here, but i thought that'd atleast get the CCFL rings to light up.
lexdiamondz10304 August 8th, 2005, 07:54 PM Hmm, did you ground the other wire?
SilverLS August 8th, 2005, 08:25 PM hey is there a diode inline with those lights (there should be ) it might be under some shrink wrap I bought a set for my truck and they broke one of the wires in packing if there is not one it might have need one i hooked mine up with out it and it worked for about 3 secs then burnt out for good so those LED only take 1.5 -3.0 volts if I remember correctly.....Hope they are still good and good luck

They are CCFL's (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp), very different than LED.

GrayGhost1 August 8th, 2005, 08:56 PM First of all you can not hook up just the rings. You have to use the ballast since it converts the power for the rings. If you tried to light up just the rings with a 12V source it will never work. I test all of my rings with the ballast and use a 12V battery charger. I got the charger from a local hobby store. It is used to charge up the batteries for the RC cars.
alternativeguy17 August 8th, 2005, 11:15 PM Does the Lincoln LS already have a Ballast equiped for the factory lighting system, or does one need to be purchased for the Angel Eye lights.

If you bought CCFL angel eye rings the ballasts should have come with it. That's the only way for them to work.
mholhut August 9th, 2005, 09:34 AM And good luck finding a replacement if the power inverters blow.
SurfjaxLS August 9th, 2005, 09:39 AM If you blow an inverter, they sell them, you jsut have to search. http://www.elwirecheap.com/alduin.html

GrayGhost1 August 9th, 2005, 06:10 PM Do they work hooked up to your car? I'd find it hard to believe that Ilya didn't wire it up right.
Quik LS August 9th, 2005, 06:19 PM Yeah - he's been doing this a long time - never heard of an issue with his stuff. Try e-mailiing him.....
