I know this topic has been beaten to death but I am still having trouble with mine. To be specific Im trying to program it to an "Overhead Door" garage remote. Followed the procedure from the manual and the www.homelink.com website. Anyone program theirs to this type of garage door opener?

You didn't specify who the garage door opener manufacturer is. Is it on Homelink's List?

If so, I fear I have no other suggestions. I programmed my LSC for both houses in one try each.

Hope you get it working.

It took me months to get this to work. Just keep trying. YOU must follow as they say other wies it does not work. I must have been doing something wrong when I did it.

It's not very hard to do, I'd imagine the most common problem you're all having is the fact your garage door openers are fairly new. The newer garage door openers have rolling codes so people cannot capture the code while you drive away shutting your door. This is so they cannot walk up and submit the same code they captured, the door is like a car alarm expecting a different sequential code based on its algo to then open the door.

You must turn this feature off on the overhead motor, program the homelink visor and turn the option back on, on the garage door opener. The homelink device is just like any device that could capture codes on the fly that you wouldn't want others doing so they can open your garages. The device cannot capture it properly and send it back if the next code is going to be different so the feature must be turned off.

The device will work fine once you flip the rolling code option back on - on your garage door.

it works with rolling codes, i have a new garage door opener with rolling codes and works fine. I had to try it 5 or 6 times myself before it learned the codes. But works great i can almost opent the door from a half a block away..

Right - don't worry about the instructions that tell you to 'capture' your remote and such.

Simply push the button on the overhead opener called 'learn' or 'teach' - and then (within 30 secs) push the button on your visor - the opener will flash it's light to let you know the programming was successful.

Your Homelink has to be new enough to work with rolling codes...is it?

Yeah, I have a rolling code, and it worked the first time for me. I did just what Quick said.
