air suspension problem, what'll they think of next?

Is it possible that something simple might have caused my Mark VII's rear end to suddenly drop to the pavement? This wasn't a gradual deflating, this was a sudden drop. Both sides at once. The front air shocks were replaced by the previous owner with strutmaster conversion struts The rear air bags remaining are original.

I've been reading all the related posts and answers to posts about all the possible causes of problems with air suspension systems on all the Lincolns. Could I be lucky and not have to throw untold handfuls of money at this car again to get it back to trim?

I have a Chilton's and a Haynes that cover many years and many models of Lincolns. Neither is much help.

Also, is anyone aware of a mechanic close to the Dayton, Ohio area that has a clue how to work on this?

88m,
Perhaps all you need is to replace an air line or connection. if you really need new air bags and if you are not a purist, the spring conversions are probably your cheapest alternative. A search will turn up suppliers for both air bags and springs. good luck, Linconlov
