Anybody know how much it would be to pop out 3 dents in the door of a subaru impreza. They are about 3 inches in diameter, and one has a crease. I got pissed at a friend who moved my car about 3 miles down the road, so I kicked the door. He was quoted $460 for it. I think it would be cheaper to buy a new door and get it painted to match.

WOW! I would say he went to the wrong place. You should be able to get them removed for about 30-60 a piece from a dent repair shop. If none are availble in your area contact your local friendly body shop they always have a list of people that do this work handy.

I knew the cost was too high.

Go figure that when I just need to vent, I kick the crap out of a new car, not my other friend's suburban that was right next to it with more dents than I can count.

I've used several Dent Doctors. None of them can make perfect repairs if there is a crease. A crease is stretched metal. Stretched metal is nearly impossible to put back into place without disrupting the paint.

I might suggest contacting a salvage yard that caters to the foreign car market. They can put out a request to every other yard in the country for a door of the exact color. It might be a little cheaper.

Actually the price you quoted seems pretty reasonable. If I were the car's owner I'd want it back perfect. If some bonehead did this to your car, would you settle for anything less?

You're right barry, I would want it perfect. But if my friend did it, I wouldn't want him to be spending about $450. If it were some total stranger, I wouldn't mind having him pay that much. I'm thinking of using paintless dent repair for it because he just wants it to look pretty good, it doesn't have to be perfect.

Your friend isn't doing you any favors by letting you off the hook. The best lessons are the expensive ones. My parents always said "Hit him where it hurts the most. Hit him in the pocketbook."
