newbie question - tightening belt

how do i tighten my serpentine belt?

Simply....you don't. That is the job of the tensioner. If for some reason your belt is loose, then it is either an old belt that needs to be replaced, or the tensioner is shot and you need to get a new one. :Beer

that;s what i figured, since i couldn't spot a tightening mechanism. ever since i removed the belt after changing a sensor it's been realllllly noisy. how can i fix that?

Is the belt itself squeaking or does it sound like a bad bearing in the tensioner? I have a squeak that is the tensioner going bad.

it really sounds like the belt, but i haven't ruled out any of the pulleys.
