Lentec or Art Carr?

I Have an Art Carr Extreme AOD in my Supercoupe, and I would have to say that Art Carr does not impress me.

With that said, what are you all running for aftermarket trannies?

I only ask because I will be replacing the tranny in my lsc in the next 4 months or so. Thanks

Agreed.

I have heard a lot of great things about Lentec, but wanted to see what other builders were out there.

Thanks for your input.

Build your own. What are you looking to do? Race? Street? What do you currently have year/ model-wise?

Well sir, building my own would be a bad idea. I know nothing about the insides of a tranny... but I can strip and reassemble an MP5 blindfolded.

I own a 98 Lsc, with a Borla Catback. Other than that, It's stock... for now.
I am looking to upgrade to a street/strip tranny. I want something that can take a little torque, yet still maintain a civilized cruising attitude.

I don't want anything wild, just something mild.

Next purchases are the air conversion, then stop by Lincoln Motorsport's website, and buy engine goodies.

Eventually, once I complete my research, I would like to see a 4.6 cobra with a 2.2L Autorotor in there. But mind you, I am at the Lincoln performance n00b stage as of now, so that's about a year away.

For now, I would like to purchase the supporting hardware, (tranny, rears, driveline, suspension,--dare I think, Intercooler--, radiator, etc) and have that in place for the engine swap.

OneBadMk8:
Sir, what can you offer as far as a tranny that would be better than the Lentec?

Do a 98+ J-mod (widen 4-5 holes in the valve body seperator plate, drop the 2-3 accumulator spring), install a tranny cooler, maybe a higher stall torque converter, and you're all set...

Ok... Do your Transmissions come with a manual/automatic valve Body?
Warrantee?

Turn Around Time?

Core Charge?

Dyno Run?

Estimate torque/hp the transmission will be able to take?

Thank you

I've beaten the crap out of my Mustang, had no problems with it whatsoever and it has been drag raced often.

hate to hijack this thread, but have anyone of you guys know how good "Performance Automatic" trannies are? i see some pretty good prices for them. like their AODE Super Streeter automatic tranny, for about $2,580! can anyone shed some insight on these guys, do they make solid products?

Waste of money. They're "performance" so they're not garunteed. If you break it, it'ds your problem.

Modify the tranny per Jerry Wrobelwski's specs and you're good for the streets. Those "built" trannsmissions have manual valvebodies and are for race only. You cannot drive those on the street, they're strictly strip, not to mention overpriced...

This is why I like my AOD, I have full manual control to any RPM in any gear and if I want I can let it shift for itself. It's like a whole new tranny, more pronounced in an AOD that it would be in a 4R70W.

I agree, great way to make a nice tranny that will hold decent power. If you wanted to go farther changed the bands/clutchs to a stronger type, and put the new style accumulator and springs in. I would leave the springs in, leaving the springs out, unless you upgrade your bands around your planetary gears, will put way to much force on the gears, Unless your going full race, you still want your shifts to apply in a correct manor.

Hey Pal, You wanna say that in ENGLISH? Lmao.

I got most of it, I think.

Thanks for the input. I guess the JMod is it for now. But I still reserve the option of an aftermarket tranny. ;)
