Shifting problem

If I am near WOT in first gear and let off abruptly it feels like it "slams" into second, and you can hear a really solid thud. For the meantime I havent been letting off abruptly, but what is causing this?

Could be the 1-2 accumulator piston and springs or could be the MLPS. Both are common probems. I am betting it's the first of the 2.
