I have heard bad things about Texaco Dex cool, ( the orange reddish kind ).But I have not encountered any problems with it so far in my cooling system. 100 plus degree days are common here in Kansas in the summer and I always run the A/C .I have owned the car ( or maybe it owns me! LOL! ) for 5 years and I have flushed it twice. The car has 134,000 miles on it.The temp gauge has never gone more than half way up. What are your opinions on this issue??? Thanks JC...

If you go to switching from Ethel Glycol, (green stuff) you NEED to flush the system completely as the two are incompatible. Personally I have had NOTHING but good luck with Prestone, but I don't know of any comparable difference between the cheap and the big money stuff.
AFAIK, Dex-cool was phased in to get rid of the REALLY toxic Ethel Glycol, and thats it.

Prestone has a new anti freeze that is green and they claim it will work with any color of anti freeze, I wish they would just make all brands green. Some engineer somewhere decided we need more than one color I guess!! LOL!!

I only use Motorcraft premium green engine coolant.

Just found out that there are only 2 makers of ethylene glycol in the U.S., B.A.S.F. and Union Carbide,so it's all pretty much the same.
