Just had my 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator pistons done (pics)

When people say that these need to be changed to the updated designs they are not kidding. Here is a pic of the springs:

Notice that the orange and purple springs are in 3 pieces. Luckily it was caught in time and the transmission is in otherwise good shape. The man said that the fluid was old but there was almost no metal on the magnet. The spring pieces were sideways in the piston which caused this damage to the old 1-2 piston:

Pic is a little blurry but you can see the damage. Luckily the bore the piston fits into was not damaged. I also had the MLPS changed as well as a precaution, the old one was soaked in tranny fluid. I also have Mercon V fluid added.

The car does not even feel like the same car now, before the car took 3-4 seconds to catch a gear from a start and the other shifts were not very good, now it shifts immediately and the gear changes are crisp. It is without a doubt faster than it was and much smoother. I plan on going to the track tomorrow night to see if this can get me into the 14's

Wow great! That's going to be one nice car!

Hope to get to see it before you head south!

Just have a few more bugs to work out. There aren't many left, but I am a perfectionist when it comes to cars.

We have churches and a prison in Boscobel!

Been there and done that Scott. the damage looks identical on your piston as it did on mine. Your gonna be suprised how much better it is.

I hope to find out, it's only 65 degrees today and the track is open until 2 A.M.

I just have to go out and rig up the OD wire to turn off with the traction switch and I will be set.

What's easier to do swap the shift of fix the cable?

Need to do it on my 93!

How much did it run you to get those changed out? I am curious because I need to get it done, along with new fluid, and was just wondering about how much it would be.

Total for mine with everything was $246. I would have done it myself but my wrecked Mark is in there taking up space.

I am guessing it depends on where the break is. I tried to fix mine by soldering the wire and it broke again. I just finished wiring it so that OD would stay off all the time, but I plan on ordering a new shifter in black soon to correct the issue.

I picked up a shifter from a junkyard that was as good as new for $25. Took 30 minutes to swap it.
