IIRC the x35b pulled the vertical hat trick on it first demo aginst teh boeing x32 which had to stop and reconfigure to sustain vertical flight. lookheed V-STOL the show and closed the deal. Both were excellent aircraft but at teh end of the Lockheed earned thier wings.
