Old Man's Car?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Virtue

I'm thinking about getting a Town Car. Probably a 2003. I was just wondering what some of you thought about these cars though? I'm hoping someone will be able to convince me that the Town Car is NOT JUST FOR OLD PEOPLE. I happen to like them a lot. I just would like to know why some of the younger people on here drive them first.

Posted by: evillally

The Town Car is not for old people; graves are for old people

TC is not your grandaddy's car anymore, lots of younger people (the ones who can actually locate their dicks) buy REAL cars- big American luxury. These cars will leave any of the other loser foreign trash that other young people drives in the dust; performance-wise and comfort-wise.

Hey, 239hp, 280ft of torque, and plenty of parts and other stuff for improvement, it's not an old peoples car at all. any performance modification for the Mustang SOHC will give you more power.

Just get a 03 TC Mafia staff car; black on black, change the rear end to 3:73 or 4:10, mod the tranny to give you firm, quick shifts, slap on some underdrives, get a chip, mod the heads and intake, and there you go; 300+ HP living room on wheels...

Posted by: mark0101

you could get some real power out of these cars.

Here is one town car modded. this is 2002 town car signature series like mine but modded. after i get some money in my hand i want to do the same mods as him.

It would cost about $2500 for us but Fahad had to export the parts to his country. I want to mod my town car more than my mark because we you beat someone in the town car, they are just left clueless how the hell did that car beat me.

his car runs 14.7 in the 1/4 mile and it would beat a stock mark but would be close call.

Hey, how does the Town Car compare to the DeVille in terms of ride and comfort?

the TC has a better ride and the TC is bigger, and depending on which model the TC is more comfortable

Yes, also TC does have RWD. DeVille comes with FWD.

Im 18 and I have a 91 tc. Ya I get some "why the hell are you driving that?" looks and stuff like that. But I dont care. Ive beat many of those little ricers. Ive shaved my back to door handles and will do the front ones soon. And a 40 series flowmaster. I love how it sounds. I plan on doing duals with a x-pipe when I get some more money. Oh well, I love it!

Posted by: 95tcwhite

Im 16 and I have a towncar. They atrract alot of attention when ur a teenager driving 1. I like rwd and there arent too many big v8 cars with rwd left. Also i drive alot so i want a comfy ride afer sitting in my friends cars I want to kill myself they are so uncomfertable.

I like to shoot back with lets see what about muscle cars. There big many are only "muscle" by virtue of an engine and an attempt at a suspension to try and control it. As well as most are or started as a family car with an optional engine or equipment pkg. Or if they have a suv or truck well suv's used to be for hippies (vw) and trucks were for hicks, are you a hick? If they have a little ricer or tuner well that high price is higher resale. Or the seats aren't stiff they are sport or european. Apparently if a seat is too comfortable or cushy it somehow slows the whole car down. Plus when watching celebs pulling up at an event you generally don't see a whole lot of civics or celicas. They want quality and comfort i.e. cadillac, lincoln, mercedes, rolls or hop on the bandwagon here comes a h2(tahoe supreme) limo. I started with a 83 v6 3.8 2bl t-bird, then a 5.0 v8 91 which people already considered a "big car." Then I got a 94 crownvic now I have a 98 towncar. Hey call it what you want but its comfortable easy to make a bit more "sporty" Shocks, firmer air springs, or coils (gag) thicker sway bars, tires, computer tune, change differential gear, dual exhaust, electric waterpump etc... Port and polish heads, camshafts pistons on and on. Plus no matter what they do a little 4 or even many 6's just can't get that v8 sound.

dude, TCs rule! Back in 99 my family and i went to NYC and my next door neighbor gave me the name of this "taxi service" he uses when he goes up there which has been alot over the years. It was like an inside thing. Well i do that, and this dude in a black on black TC with dark tinted windows pulls up. I was like oh mafia! He drove us all around and didn't talk much. It was so funny to see other cars get out of our way......and this was in NYC!!

I am an old guy (58), and I drive two Town Cars. Bear in mind however, us old guys grew up in the era of the Muscle Car. We're used to big, powerful, luxurious cars with RWD, a cushy ride and loads of class. Are Town Cars old man cars? The answer is yes, but the list of old men's cars would also have to contain the Pontiac GTO, Mercury Marauder, The Hemi Road Runner, The REAL letter series Chrysler 300s, etc. Not bad company is it?

Posted by: 95ltc

I like the idea of having an old persons car.I dont know why, its just that they would have the most classy and comfortable cars because they want the best.... they want the towncar. Also it is a very pop. car for the mob and its associates, that cool to.

Im 18 and I may not drive a Towncar but I do drive a 97 Continental and hell I used to get alot of that dude lincolns are old people cars, but that's merrily jealousy from peeps who can't drive em. My Continental stands out in the school parking lot with it's shiny chrome accents and silver paint and my 30% tints all around shes a real beauty now I just gotta save up for those Cobrastar 17 inch rims. I will say one thing for them though it seems to be a cop magnet it seems like everytime I pass a cop they tail me im pretty sure they suspect that I stole the car but oh well so basically get the linc and mod it to your hearts content it's your ride make it represent you.

The Town Car is not an old mans car in anyway. I purchased a 2005 Lincoln Town Car last thursday, and it is my forth TC. I am just 26 years old, and purchased the car for ME, and nobody else. As long as you are happy, who cares what you drive.

When I was like 14-15, I thought the '90-'97 Town Car was the quintessential old person's car, you know, the sort of car that the snowbirds would drive down to Florida in the winter and back up in spring. But as I got a few years older, I really grew to like them. There is not a smoother riding car in the land. The '90s deVilles don't come close. I have a '92 Sedan deVille and every '90-'97 Town Car I have driven is much smoother and much quieter, but the tradeoff is steering feel and the deVilles were always a bit quicker. Otherwise, I see it as a real throwback to the old days. When cars were huge, long and low, luxurious, powerful, and I love the RWD and body on frame design!

My next car is gonna be a '95-'97 Town Car Signature or Cartier!

How many Mike Jones or Paul Wall or whoever else current rappers' videos have Town Cars in them? (See "Still Tippin" etc.) Pretty much all of 'em. "Hood Rich", yes. "Old Man", not necessarily. :-P

Thats true, I recently attended a Lowrider show, and there was alot of "kids" with Hoppin' Lincolns.

Posted by: beeftallywacker

Dood, two things.

One, the 2003 TC is probably the best year for that car. That was the last year for all of the PI parts (suspension, exhaust, headers, etc. etc.) that came from the factory. Little by little, every year Lincoln is dumbing down the TC with cheap parts.

Two, oh sure, the haters are going to hate...especially little girls. Just invite them for a ride, and they will see why you roll in a big Linc. I have won many converts that way.

Dood, BUY THE TOWN CAR! You will be glad you did.

Plus, you can join the brotherhood of Town Car owners! We welcome anyone into the clique.

Sincerely,

Beeftallywacker

Alright, let me just say what we're all thinking. It takes a certain degree of class to drive these cars around. Lincolns, Cadillacs, any model. I would say especially if you are a younger person (not to sound ageist!) These aren't Civics or Corollas. One must have a properly developed automotive palette to appreciate them. But here in my neighborhood the younger guys are always wanting to drive Cadillacs or Lincolns.

BTW, it's kind of fun to bring back an old thread!

Posted by: 97LTCSS

i like it all, but theres a fine line with going to far...!!!

lil rims, its my thing, im gonna do it regardless!!!

big rims...20's is the biggest I would go on a towncar, my bro-n-law has a 98 on 22's...they look WAY TOO BIG for it!!!

heres my ride:

heres my bro-n-laws ride:

Posted by: 97LTCSS

here is one on 98-02 style on 20's...minus the spinners and if the windows were tinted, this would be bad-f-u-c-k-e-n-a$$...!!!

Posted by: 97LTCSS

you guys are gonna kill me...but i just found this...an 03-06 model LTC, lowrider style!!!

A month after I bought my TC, I drove to Vegas with my girl, stayed on the strip and valeted my TC. When we left, I gave the valet ticket to the runner, and waited out front to get my ride. It took a few minutes as there were several people waiting as well... I saw my car coming up, and stepped forward to the curb the driver got out, and was looking around me to find someone else. I politely told him that it was my car, and I got a funny look from him like I was playing around.

That reaction alone is why I love my TC.

I know they aren't just for old people. I'm 18 and I've owned the TC a year and a half. I've owned the Triumph since 16 and just bought the Vette in February. All of my cars are typically owned by people significantly older than me.

mark0101's pic motivated me to get out and do one of my stuff.(All except the Saturn, as I hate owning that thing)

Some of you may remember me, probably not, but the reason I have been gone is that I bought the Vette.

Im 21, and 2 years ago I bought a gold 1993 lincoln town car, in MINT condition, about a half year later i traded it in, along with a POS volkswagen i had(i had to get out of the contract somehow) for a jeep liberty, biggest mistake i ever made, I regret it to this day. 3 weeks ago i bought a silver 2000 Town car at an auction, once you drive a town car, there just is no other car out there for you. My father was a TLC driver in New york ever since I was a kid, and My best memories were going on long trips in the town car. I think they are the last of the real cars. simple, perfect luxury, everything you need, nothing you dont.

I'd like to play with my 2000 Continental, but there is nothing here on these late model Contis. Does anyone mod these cars? And if so, where do I go for the mods?
Mine is a 2000 BLK/BLK w/8 spoke wheels. I'll post a pic soon.
