My son has his in laws in town for several days looking for a house to buy, so he traded me his LS (my old 01 LS8 Sport) for my wife's Aviator so he could haul them all around. I also had to fix a hard starting problem with it. Anyway, after driving it for the weekend, I remembered what I loved about the car and I miss it damn it! I sold it to him when I bought my 04 Cobra convertible. Now the Cobra is an incredilbe performance vehicle. It's Redfire and gorgeous. If you have never driven one of these cars, you need to. The power is unbelievable. They are a 12 second car right off the show room floor before you modify a thing. There are several here in the Valley running 10's and are completely streetable with impecable street manners. That's hard to beat for the "fun" factor. But it really is a 25 year old design and it shows in the interior fit and finish. But when you stick your foot in it, who cares???

So, I've been looking the last couple of days into selling it and getting another LS until I buy one of the new Cobras. (I WILL have one of those!) I've also been looking at BMW 5 series...especially the V-8's. What amazes me is none of them are selling for asking prices! Check eBay and you will see what I mean. I think that they have gone soft at the moment. So, with that in mind, would you find a good deal on the BMW or just get the LS? I've never owned a Beemer and wouldn't mind trying one for a while. I've driven a couple and they are very nice cars. But I've owned an LS and absolutely loved the car. Anyone had any experience with both vehicles they can add their 2 cents worth?

I have not driven a BMW but wouldn't mind comparing. I'm sure the cars are similar performance wise, but I like the fact that you don't see as many LS's out there as you do the BMW's. Where are some BMW dealers around here? Wouldn't mind trying to get a test drive.

I have driven a friends 5 series v8 that was a while before i got my ls but from what I remember the beamer gave a slightly better ride but the ls handling was slightly better, i'd take handling over power because I'm a cruiser... personally id choose the ls because I love being different than everyone else

take into consideration if something goes wrong with the bmw ur most likely to spend 3 times more to fix it. also dont plan on fixing it yourself like you can on the ls. look at price ur spending 3 times more. for what? thats what u have to wat out. is the little blue and white bmw symbol worth all the extra money

Repairs to a BMW are a very valid concern. I know if I ever went that direction, I would need the factory warranty to be in place for the length of time I planned on owning the vehicle. I've heard of some hideous repair bills on a Beemer before.
