Best brake pads and rotors?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I need to change my brake pads and rotors this weekend. Anyone know what the best performance pad and rotor combination would be with a stock set up? I would like to get pads that have a nice feel and lot of bite. Pad life doesn't really concern me. Also, are there any high performance sets of calipers out there that would fit stock 16 inch rims? Any ideas would be great.

No question about it Hawk pads are the best !!! As far as your rotors are concerned, I'd just make saure they were made in the US or Canada. The rotors from China have a tendency to warp.

Thanks! I'll get the Hawk pads. I have never been happy with the ones I have on the car now. Do you know who carries them?

Cub,

Did you read his original post? How do you know he was talking about FRONT rotors and pads? Hawk doesn't make rears so therefore saying, "Hawks are the best" would only send the guy around in circles. BTW Cubster have you ever tried Porterfields, hell have you ever heard of them? There are alot better brake pads out there than Hawks. I guess if you are shopping for pads for stock FRONT brake pads yea maybe Hawks as other perforamce pads for Marks are hard to find. But if you are shopping for stock FRONT brake pads you have your head up your ass anyway.

Gee, I wonder what kind of pads I have in the rear, I thought they were Hawk, let me check...........YUP they're Hawk pads. Tractionless, you remind me of my fridge, EXCEPT, my fridge doesn't fart when I take my meat out !!!!!

Well I guess you have WAY more time than me to search around for stuff. Both Tirerack and another company I checked online didn't even list a part number for the rears. The second company stated they have the largest inventory of Hawk pads in the country. Congratulations to you Cubster, I'll eat my words about rear Hawks. But the fridge thing?

I notice they sold them but didn't check for rears especially after the other two I checked didn't list a p/n for the Mark. I wound up ordering the ceramics from Tirerack which I have seen many members have had good experiances with. I am going to throw them on the rears with the cheapy R1 Concepts rotors (slotted/zinc plated) made in china (I guess) and see what happens. I have Cobra fronts with 13" KVR slotted zinc plated rotors and Porterfield R4S pads and it slams you into the dash now. I'll get some pics up soon, well after doing the intake, rearend, brakes, and driveshaft...ok maybe it will be awhile. You can goto www.tractionless.freeservers.com and then "pics" in the left hand margin and see some old pics.
