Lincoln LS Clear Side Marker Lenses

Somewhat good news! Today I was contacted by the company I'm using to mold the side marker lenses clear. They said they'll be ready to start manufacturing lenses in a couple of weeks. I'm going to send them another batch of original lenses so they can re-make the molds. I will be sending them the sport, non-sport and turn signal lenses.

Keep your fingers crossed that they don't have another fire!

The side markers have a bulb inside the housing and do light up when the parking lights are on.

The company I'm using is currently working on the sport, non-sport and turn signal lenses. They are telling me late May or first of June before I'll get the first batch. They're coming!

Yes. I'm having clear side marker lenses made for the both sport and non-sport LS's as well as the clear turn signal lenses for the headlights. Expected arrival is late June.

The sets I get will be clear but I will have a limited amount of tint lenses made. Those will come later.

I wanted to update everyone on the clear lenses production. Right now the company I'm using is making the molds. They've had to re-do the molds three times to get a mold that would produce a perfect lens. This has delayed production. They let me know that worse case scenario is another 2 weeks before I will get the first batch. Here is their email I received today:

In the next week we should have the molds completed, test lenses done and ready to start producing. Then in another week we would have 7-14 sets ready to ship depending on how good they come out. And after that 7-14 sets a week for those lenses. And delay another week each time we start a new set.

They will be making the sport version lens first, non-sport lens second and then the turn signal lens. This is the closest we've been to having these since mid-last year. It's getting close!

Ok folks, it's getting very close until I get the first batch of lenses. I was sent a picture today of the lenses. This is the first look at the lenses. I gave the approval and they will hopefully be shipping the first batch by the end of the week. The picture shows the original lens and the other is the aftermarket version. These are a higher quality lens than what I have offered before. Let me know what you think.

Ok, for those of you wanting these lenses I am accepting pre-orders for the 2000-2002 Clear Sport version lenses. They are $74.99 a set with free shipping. Remember you only get the lenses and you will have to modify your exisiting assemblies with new lenses. I have a intallation guide on my website for reference.

The company I'm using tells me that they should have first runs done on the Non-sport and turn signal lenses by mid-week. Once I get those and approve them it will take about a week to produce and then ship to me.

The non-sport lenses should be arriving about 1-2 weeks after the sport version and then followed by the turn signal lens.

As for the double DIN radio piece, my supplier is sending me the DIN piece and the first article wood piece. If I approve it then it will be available on my website.

If you have the chrome strips on your bumper then you have the non-sport LS.

Here they are! The NON-SPORT Clear Side Marker Lenses. They look absolutely gorgeous. I'm very impressed with them. As for pricing, they'll probably be the same as the sport version at $74.99/set. However, I'm still crunching numbers with the manufacturer. This is the only set I have at the moment and they are promising me 10 sets by the end of next week. I'll more than likely open up pre-orders this weekend with the first lucky person getting the set below. Let me know what you think.

Ok here is a sneek peak at the smoke colored lenses. Both picturs are the same lenses but just taken under different lighting so you can see how dark they are. These are the non-sport lenses. I only have one pair since they send me a set first for approval. The lenses are molded with in this color and it's not a spray on so no worry for it to wear off. The cost will be $79.99 for the set since. The molding company charges $5 extra per pair for the smoke lenses. The sport version and the turn signal lens will come in the smoked version too. Let me know what you think.

Probably but the cost would not justify the means. You're looking at around $30-$40 per light assembly then my time to modify them so the cost would probably end up over $300 for a set of clear side marker lenses. Not too many people to justify that cost. That's why it's a do-it-yourself project. It's not a hard project if you can use a Dremel tool.

I'm have a problem with my passenger side lamp. For some reason it won't stay in and keeps popping out. Do you have any suggestions to keep it in place? Do you think I should also buy some new lights as well? (I'm currently waiting for my clear lenses now). A side note my current lights are currently orange all the way through, how does that effect the install of the lenses?

Is the whole assembly popping out? If so, the metal retaining clip may need to be bent out to that it's strong enough to hold the assembly in. This is a common problem with the side marker lens assemblies. If you can get that to work then you won't need new assemblies. I did this to mine and it worked very well.

Well, if you have bent the clip it might be time for some new assemblies. I know that the clip doesn't go behind the plastic piece on the bumper. It just rests in place on top of it. Is the plastic piece on the bumper wore down a bit?

As for the all amber assemblies, you can take the lens off just like the ones with the grey backing. However, I would suggest painting the inside of the amber backing black or grey like other others. If not, you'll have the amber color reflecting into the clear lens. I have one of each on my car and I just painted the inside of the backings the same color as my car.

According to DOT all cars should have a reflector visible from the side of the car at night. Now the new lenses have been manufactured to provide reflection from the side of the car. I'm not saying they are legal but you may need to check with your local laws. I have been running mine on my LS now for well over a year and have not had any problems with the police locally or elsewhere. Your mileage may vary depending on how strict your area is.

No, I spoke with the manufacturer today and they have had heat problems with the molds. Manufacturing acrylic in the summer is a little different than winter is what they are telling me. I'm a little frustrated with them. I told them 3 months ago that Christmas is coming and I wanted 30 sets of each in my hand by November. Well that hasn't happened. It seems anything custom is a pain in the ass to keep up.

They said I should expect some clear side marker lenses after Thanksgiving.

I would suggest that you go on my website and create an account. Then go to the clear side marker page and click on the Notify me of Updates button. This way when they come in I'll send out a notification that they are back in stock. The clear lenses are $74.99 and smoke are $79.99.

As for the gauges, they aren't that hard just takes some time...and a beer or two!
