coil conversion

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Finished the coil conversion on the MARK. Went with the 1 1/2 lower kit, and I have to say, it looks friggin awesome. Not only does it look great, but the ride is much improved over the air ride. Now, I'm am NOT bashing the air ride. Yes, I have ridden in a MARK with all new air ride components. And I still like the coils better. To each their own I say. Besides, isn't that what makes our cars, OURS cars.....the ability and the right to modify/make them into what our own minds see them as.

If anyone has any questions about the conversion, I'll be more than glad to answer them. Found out some pretty interesting stuff while doing it.

Its like looking at pictures of my car minus the wheels. You like it also? I love it. Just watchout for speed bumps and all

I found that with the standard 1-1/2" lowered spring that I should have either put in progressive springs & or atleast firmer or adjustable struts, a borrowed idea(Ashman,"Koni front strut install" July 11th 2003-the Lincoln MarkV111 Message Board). This would help the handling even more, the dips & occasioal scraping, will not be as frequent, if at all, without going to the full go kart bumpy ride. Plan to modify my old units, with the suggested upgrade, this summer. Will advise. Ed

I make certain I avoid speed bumps like the plague. It's hard enough getting in and out of my driveway. But I wouldn't change it for nothing. And, you know, it IS like looking at a twin looking at yours too. But, you need to get some 10'ers to set the look off. If you find chrome ones, even betterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I used the kit from Eddie at AMERICAN AIR SUSPENSION. The gap from lip of fender to tire is 1 1/2 inches. The kit is called the BLACK ICE SPECIAL.
Good guy to deal with. Shipping was fast and the item was correct the first time. PLUS, he'll make ya a good deal. Just ask for his "BEST" price.

is the amount of space from the top of the tire to the bottom of the wheel well on the fronts equal to the rears. on mine, in the fronts i can barely get my one finger in above the tire. The back, i can fit 2 fingers in about the tire easy. ??

any suggestions or comments?
