Power Steering Pump

The power steering pump on my 93 is about to go (whines all the time) wondering if there is any special steps I have to take to replace it? also I would like to drain all the old fluid out any ideas on how to do that?

when you replace the pump 75 to 90 % of the fluid will come out the only thing that will hold fluid is the gear box.id use a ford pump , all you need is a pulley puller,10 mm socket,18 mm wrench, pliers, and pulley installer.good luck

Is it leaking at all or low on fluid or has really nasty burt smelling fluid? As you may want to do a flush/cleaning so when the new one is in the crappy old fluid doesn't leave a dirty varnish all over it. Since the fluid is atf a atf/transmission fluid cleaner run through it and flushed out may fix the problem or at least leave a clean system for the new pump.

I was just going to use a pump from partsamerica, is there a real advantage to the ford pump? also no fluid is leaking/leaked out yet it just has a horrible whine at the moment. Thanks for the tips and help
