Horrors of War

Clicked on the wrong thing today.. This image I couldn't get out of my mind.

This photograph is one in a portfolio of twenty taken by eleven different Associated Press photographers throughout 2004 in Iraq. Mohammed Saleem, age 18 months, lies in a coffin in a Sadr City morgue Sunday June 6, 2004 after he and four other members of his family were killed when U.S. forces opened fire hitting the vehicle in which they were traveling.

Brings a tear to my eye.

I'll save Bryan the trouble of responding to this post in his most typical "compasionate conservative" mode by replying for him.......

So are we implying that after the "murderous" US troops killed this child they danced in a circle with their weapons in the air chanting victory slogans. I sincerly hope not...

Those of you whose hardest decision all day is weather to have the latte or the espresso on your way to a cushy job will never know the feeling of having to make a split second life or death decision over 100 times a day and having to live with your choice. So don't you even think you have ANY RIGHT to wag your finger at any servicemember.

Reality check...people die in wars...somtimes innocent children. If you cannot accept that fact then maybe you should go hide in your closet where the big bad evil world cannot find you.

Not here, It's just the part of war that kills me.

Not implying there was any celebration about this at all...I do not think and hope that any American Soldier would be that heartless.

Ever see photos of the victims of September 11? At least this kid HAS a body to lay to rest...

Here's why the kids get hurt...cowards

Let's see if I can get the photo to upload.

It doesn't make me a coward not to like war.

But it because I'm an American I can state my opinion.

I agree the it is cowardly to hide behind children!!

Also I want to you know I don't judge you for being in the military or think that you are any other US Soldiers are out their looking to kill children.

I respect all of our troops and I support them and pray for their safe return home to their families.

I agree. Using children or innocents in general as human shields is very cowardly, but sadly it has been used all too often over there. The picture of that boy has basically been repeated in every war there ever was. Innocent boys were killed by the US military in Nazi Germany, North Africa, the Phillipines, etc., etc. I'll crossover into this thread a famous quote: "War is hell." William Tecumseh Sherman. An innocent boy being killed is not proof in and of itself that this war is wrong. Otherwise, every war of self-defense should not have been fought. Time will tell if this war has actually saved lives. I believe it has so far, although I understand that this is a debatable point.

I tell you, when I get over there in less than 2 months, I wont be aiming at anyone unless I have to. But if it comes down to it, woman, man or kid will not prevent me from coming home to my 2 sons and wife. ***WARNING*** IF YOU ARE AN ENEMY COMBATANT, YOU HAD BETTER PICK A DIFFERENT ROUTE. IF YOU COME BARRELING DOWN TO ME I'LL SHOOT. It's disgusting that people will use kids as human shields. I hope the ones who do it have thier balls rot off in their hands, as a pack of rabid mice gnaw all the flesh off their bones. Slowly.
