after i purchased my lincoln from my father in law"the car sat for 4 yrs. in garage" the front brake caliper's froze on the way home and alot of heat built up. the next day i replaced both front caliper's,pad's and had rotor's turned. about two week's ago i started to get a humming noise comming from the front end while the car is driving. all of the tires are still like new and are goodyear's of the same size and type so i'm going to rule them out. do you think the front spindle bearing's could be getting worn or possibly damaged from the past brake problem? i also just checked the power steering reservoir and it was o.k. but the fluid looked dirty but no leak's. i'm taking the car next week for a fresh alignment and a power steering flush. should i wory about the humming? it's not loud or getting any louder, just a little annoying.any help would be appreciated before i pluck down the buck's for something i may or may not need

Do you know what your air ride compressor sounds like?
It may be that.

If the brakes got hot enough, it could have damaged the already old wheel bearing grease. My first check would be the bearings.

If it is a rolling noise consistant with vehicle speed
then I would reinspect the wheel bearings --
If its only when you step on the brake
it was probably an incorrectly turned rotor
( they can really howl if the cut speed is not set right )
If you had the rotors turned then a bearing repack
is a must -- they may not have been torqued
correctly / bearing wear or race damaged / not safetyed --
I personally dont like the goodyear line because of the
Noise they make -- Michlins much quieter -- weather
is warmer now -are you running with the windows down
where before they were up ???? big difference in noise level
The micarta pistons in the standard issue brake calipers
were horrible about seizing and creating brake drag and
thats a real regular occurrance but should not have created
any noise ---
Jack it up and spin the wheels and see if you can hear anything
