exhaust...Bullets? anyone?

Buddy of mine and I campaign a 1970 Camaro, 472 cu.in., enderle injected on alky-drag car.(9.40's)

Since our local tracks mandates use of mufflers when running the weekly grudge races, we've been experimenting with different "flow-through" mufflers for his car. The problem is, high-compression, mechanically injected motors on alcohol DONT LIKE mufflers. perioid.

So, our latest attempt was a straight through "bullet" design. They sound awesome, and fit perfectly under the car. But the car is still too loud to comply(115db limit, we blow 116-117db's). So, they are coming off.

I am considering torching them onto my 94, just for kicks, to see how they'd sound/perform.

since I run a stock single exhaust(94 Mark VIII) into the split, with a removed resonator, I will worry about low-end torque loss.

So, I am just curious...anyone ever run a straight-thru bullet design muffler? How did it sound? I do want to advertise MORE as I blast through the 'hood.

Geno, I now know about your mufflers...you already "sold me" on them. But since these are now 'scraps", I thought I'd ask/try them out.

anyone?

sound clips of them on a street car/stock engine:

I dig 'em.
Dynomax race magnum bullets.

Oh...car weighs 3300 lbs, only has a 4.56 gear, and runs a TH-400 instead of a glide...and the 4-link isnt sorted yet. Should be a 8.90 car by summer. seems to hook ok... 1.267 60ft's.

anyway... scraps...parts that are paid for, and end up in a pile for anyone to use...if you open your back door Geno, you'll probably find a line of Mark VIII owners looking for scraps...

can you describe the 4" assasins, as far as internals? The less back-pressure, the better, but as we know, back-pressure typically creates muffle, and thats what we need.

believe it or not, we ran a plane-jane dynomax muffler for 2 years, and the car was at 110-112db...problem is, they are heavy. plus, when they get "clogged", they end up hurting the motor.

Thanks for your time Geno. It's nice to talk shop with someone who knows about making hp.

BTW, isnt it ever your bedtime?

The Assassins are what was on my green car. I have some pix of them floating around....I will post them. They are a straight thru design with packing. I loved the sound of them on my car.

I never sleep.

The Assassins are a straight through design that in 3 and 4 inch really pump out some serious cfm's.

The fitment on that car would be tough because the round style bodies on the larger internal versions are huge.

They are perforated tubes inside with angle cuts in each perforation to catch the passing exhaust gasses without any real restriction. There 100 SS too including the ss wool packing.
