All right this is a hard one

I got my new HVAC unit from ERIC1 its a 97 and worked perfect coming out, now i take the old one undo the screws that hold it in and undo the connectors in the back right as soon as I do that the defrost comes on and spits out, out side air.

Unusual I thought but dint think any thing about it, i take the new one hook it up the right way and and the dash and parking lights come on and the controls are no workie! no loghts no nothing. The vents still spit out vent air though the defrost.

so i hook the old one back up but same thing except the HVAC controls light up and i can change things but nothing happens.still have air out the defrost, so i just put the new one in there for now, please some one help!

If you have a '94 and you bought a '97 EATC to replace it, it will not properly work without modification.

The defrost position is the vacuum default of the EATC. That is to say it sounds to me like you either...

1. Broke a vacuum line(if you're lucky).

2. Blew a fuse or caused some other electrical fault when plugging in the new unit where now the old unit will not work.

3. Both the above.

How many vacuum lines go into the back of it and what modifications are needed to be done with it to make it work properly?

I would have to search for the modifications required. It wasn't undoable but definitely not plug and play.

All right well I took another look at it and there was 1 out of the six ports open on the back of the climate control, I looked for a lose one stuffed in the back some where but found nothing, is there any one else in here who has done this I cant drive the car cuz windows keep fogging over with the defrost on.
