wacky wipers

My first post - hope someone can help. There is a plastic "spacer" or "slider" on the wiper assembly of my 1990 Town Car that appears to be worn out - the wipers don't return to the down position when I shut them off. This is a small rectanglar piece, about 3cm x 7cm with a hole in the middle for the wiper drive to poke through. It is accessable by removing the wiper arm assembly from the motor shaft. The dealer says 'replace the whole wiper motor' - of course... is there another solution? Does anyone have one of these collecting dust in a parts bin?
Any advice would be most welcome!

OK I told you I was a newbie. Further research reveals I need a new windlatch assembly to make the 90 TC's wipers return to park position. One source suggests this is part # FOVY-17V436-ARM. Can anyone confirm this? I don't have access to microfische or a parts list (or I wouldn't waste your time). The switch etc. seem to function properly.
Thanks folks

Hi oldwings..
I saw this same problem, with suggested solutions over here

I found the wiper cam and slider in good condition in a junkyard. Installing the new parts was fast and simple and fixed the problem!
I can see again!
